Checkmate

chapter one

I was getting ready to go to sleep; I had just cut the lights out and got into bed, when I heard taps on my window. I think to myself It couldn't have been John, he is still in New York. I slowly go to grab my phone and call 911 when my window opened. I got up and ran as fast as I could down stairs to hide in my food pantry.I'm already breathing heavy when my phone rings, I answer whispering

"What" its john

"Geez attitude? Where are you" he says with humor

"I'm hiding, where are you? There is someone in my house"

"Have you called the cops?"

"No dummy I can't I'm on the phone with you"

"Oh, well call them and be careful" he hangs up.

Before I can even unlock my phone the door opens and the man that is in my house is standing right in front of me. He points a gun at me and squirt's me with water. I sit in my pantry confused thinking to myself who is this and why is he in my house squirting me with water? Then the man laughs and says "Checkmate your turn" He pulls off his mask and it's John. I get up and hug him,

"Oh, you got me good, but how were you talking to me on the phone without me hearing you? "I say confused "

I was still upstairs when I said be careful but when I hung up I ran down here and opened your door" he laughs and sits down on my couch

"why did you prank me?"

"well Ally this is a game you're in now, I had to prank you or I would die here ill- "

"wait , die? What? what is this game and how did you get involved?"

"I was pranked. If you don't prank someone you die, but if you do the game keeps going. The name of the game is Prank or die, if you get pranked you prank the person you want to prank but if you aren't careful you could die either way. So I just decided to prank you because you wouldn't kill me "he laughs again

"John this isn't a laughing matter; you could have died" I hug him again "is there a time limit before you prank someone?"

"Yeah, you have one week to get your prank done, after that week is up, and you have done your prank you okay but you can't prank me, you have to prank someone else."

"I'm scared, what if I don't make it in a week, how will they kill me?

"Like this "he rolls up his sleeve " I have to put one in your arm " he pulls out a small tracking devise looking thing in a needle

"John you know how I feel about needles "

"yeah I know but still you have too, and I know what you're thinking. If I didn't prank you, you wouldn't have to do this. but if I didn't someone else would have, then things could have gotten messy "

"I don't want to die so go ahead and do it, do it as fast as possible "I hold out my forearm

"I'm sorry ally "he sticks the needle in my forearm for about 30 seconds then pulls it out

"are you done "

"yeah, you can open your eyes now "

I open my eyes and there is a small light coming from my forearm

"eww its green "

John laughs "yeah its green now, but it changes color see?

I look down and its red, then blue, then purple , then yellow ,then back to green. I get up and stand in front of John

"who pranked you?"

He pauses knowing the name that is going to come out of his mouth is going to make me mad

"Samantha did"

His words speed up

"I wasn't with her , or near her , I wasn't even talking to her "

I pull out my phone and start to text her .

"why did you prank John , you knew this was going to start drama again , I told you I don't want you near him , or even talking to him

John gets up

" She snuck into my house like I did yours . how she found out where I live I don't know

I stop typing a delete the text

"you know what , I was going to text her but that's what she wants . she wants me to come after her over this and im not , im not gonna let her get what she wants . "

"okay ,but you need to find out who you want to prank "...
