Valentine's Day (poetry competition)

The 14th of February

The sweetest a day could be

With boxes of chocolate

And bouquets of roses

Dinner dates and kawaii poses

In front of monuments like the Eiffel Tower

Then running with an umbrella

When there's a sudden shower

It's movie nights at home or out

Something romantic, without a doubt

It's enormous cards with lots of hearts

And huge teddies, from winning darts

At a fairground where candyfloss was shared

Or staying at home because no one cared

Where they were as long as

They were with their Valentine

And together they could dine

Even in special circumstances,

Where one can't be where they wish

Through video calling,

A couple can share a dish

And that is what Valentine's is like

for those that have a pair

And for others it's another day

Where there's no need to worry about your hair!

Happy early Valentine's!
