Finding karissa

Chapter one: The disappearance

In the town of gurnee nothing bad really ever happened. Sometimes the knucklehead children get lost in the warren township woods. Hell sometimes they would get lost playing hide and seek but nothing major ever happened to where we feared for someones life every time we heard a police siren, or when the school would gossip about how a friend ran away and came home the next day. This right here was different. This was the time we feared for lives. This very moment we were scared when the police came knocking at our doors. My name is celine and i'm gonna tell you the story about karissa delgado and how she became the talk of the town.

"MOM!" I had shouted as I stared back at my tired looking blue eyes. Lately I haven't been getting the best sleep. I had been failing two classes and that usually never happens, and life at home had been really hard lately. Mom and dad had divorced and mom took me and my father had taken custody of my brother caleb. 

"please don't leave me with him momma." his pleading eyes looked back at hers. He was never close to dad to be honest none of us were so he was like a total stranger to baby caleb, he had no idea what was gonna happen or who he was gonna be around in the town of california. 

"Caleb I promise you mommy will come and visit you whenever she can and one day you will be back with me okay?" She shook her head up and down but I don't think it was to reassure him but to reassure herself. Tears rolled down her cheeks which triggered me to begin crying. 

"I will message and facetime you everyday caleb okay?" I said to him as I rubbed my thumb against his soft cheeks. His brown eyes stared back at me with sadness. 

"Okay" was all he managed to say before dad rolled the window up. He drove off and after that, that was the last we had seen of caleb for a while. We would video call and say we were gonna visit but mom never had the funds to fly out to california or the time.

"Celina." Mom had said in a loud tone pulling me out of my thoughts. 

Her usual straight brown hair was curled, making them shine at the edge of each twist. She had freckles on her cheeks that I also had gotten from her. She wore her plaid t-shirt with her usual denim jeans. "You've got school in a bit so make sure you aren't late" she said before closing the door. 

I went back to staring at my reflection. My usual morning message from karissa hadn't come yet which sometimes did happen when she was also in a rush or overslept, which was mostly the issue. I unlocked my phone and messaged karissa

WAKE UP SLEEPY HEAD!!! ˢᵉᶰᵗ ⁷﹕²³ ᵃᵐ

 I opened the bathroom door and walked to my room and began picking clothes that I thought would look good. "Time to go back to hell" I said under my breath. 

for a intro I didn't want to make it long because I want it to be as mysterious as possible to who had what to do with her being missing and you never know maybe as you get to know the characters you'll figure out who it is maybe sooner than later ;)
