Aurelia stepped off the train on to the platform with her black messenger bag attached to her hip.Her curly black hair fell to the small of her back and she quickly topped her coif with a black knit beanie and rushed to get inside of the station before the rain began. She hurried down the familiar stairs to get to the street outside and hailed a taxi. Everything about being here felt wrong. The reason, the timing, and most of all she swore she wouldn't return here because she gave this life up. Pennsylvania was the last place she ever wanted to be again. Her heart had been shattered in to fourty million pieces here, and she was definitely not interested in being back here.
"where to, Miss?" The surprisingly American cabbie inquired
"435 Hickory Hill Road" Aurelia replied in her soft tone. she pulled out her mirror compact and eyeliner. her emerald eyes were lined perfectly, but for some reason she decided to re-line them, and re-do the rest of her makeup as well. She had about 15 minutes before she'd arrive at her destination. As the cab rolled from West Gay street to High Street, Aurelia's gut wrenched. She was showing up unannounced after one of her childhood friends had passed away in a horrible accident. How would her ex react? He had tried countless times to win her back, but the damage had been done. Not only had the love of her life cheated on her, but her best friend had completely stabbed her in the back, and to make matters worse- years later they decided it would be a fantastic idea to air their nuptuals on television for all of the world to see.
Not long after Aurelia had finished applying her makeup, the cab rolled up to a larg barn-like estate. This had to be the place.
Aurelia paid the cab driver and tipped him generously. she climbed out of the nearly ancient automobile and made her way to the wrought iron double doors.
"Here goes nothing..." she said to herself before pushing the glowing doorbell.
She waited.
And waited....
at least five minutes passed until she heard signs of life on the other side of the door. she turned to face the long, spiraling driveway before the door opened.
"Hello? how can I help you?" a familiar voice asked
Aurelia turned and her eyes met a pair of sparkling blue eyes as deep as the ocean.
Just like that, everything came flooding back to her.
"Bam...."
