Camp Omyx: Rise Of Dawn

Part 1

Chapter 1

Camp Omyx is filling up with campers of all kinds. Some wore expressions of happiness, fear, anger, and excitement. A girl hid behind a tree watching all the campers file into tents and unpacking their things.

A boy walks up behind her, "Umm hi?" She jumps, "Ah! Oh.. Um hi." "I'm Yuu." He sticks out his hand with a smile.

She slowly sticks her hand out and shakes his. "I'm Skyler.. but people just call me Sky" she replied. There's a silence for a moment.

Yuu breaks the silence. "So.. Have you been here before?" said Yuu. Sky's attention was focused on the chatting campers so she didn't hear.

Yuu taps her shoulder, "Um Sky? Are you okay?" Sky shakes her head, "Oh yeah.. Yeah I'm fine," she glances back at the group, "Um.. Sorry but what did you say?" Yuu looks at his feet, "Oh never mind. I'm going to go meet some other people. It was nice meeting you. See ya 'round." He walks away to meet with some other campers.

Sky looks back at the campers in curiosity. Hmm.., She thinks, I wonder if any of the other campers are like me?

A girl walks over to Sky. "Hey Sky!" says the girl. Sky looks up, "Oh hey Jasmine. What's up?" Jasmine leans on the tree next to Sky, "Nothing much. You?" Sky shrugs, "Same... Just checking out the new peeps." Sky's eyes flash a bright green.

Jasmine gives Sky a look. "Mmhm, sure. Now tell me the truth." Sky sighs, "Ya know... having your eyes change with your mood isn't always a good thing." They both laugh.

Sky's smile fades. Jasmine puts her hand on Sky's shoulder, "Hey, what's the matter? You know you can tell me anything." Sky's watch starts to beep. Beep! Beep! Beep! "Huh saved by the bell" Sky walks off headed to the campfire.

Campfire

Sky grabs a megaphone and speaks into it, "Helloooo campers!" The campers cover their ears from the loud welcome. "Welcome to Camp Omyx. We are glad you all are here. But beware, as you may come across mysteries unexplainable. And on that note....My name is Skyler but everyone calls me Sky. Who's up for some truth or dare?"

Campers hoot and clap. A camper yells, "Could ya put the megaphone away I'm trying to read here!"

Sky shrugs and sets the megaphone down. "Who's first?"

Jasmine raises her hand. "Guess I will." She looks around at all the faces wondering who to ask. "Hmmm you!" she point to a boy in a red sweatshirt and brown hair. "Truth or dare?"

The boy looks up from his phone and takes an earbud out,"Um truth.. I guess." Jasmine sighs, "Man some people just aren't up for being daredevils. Ok is it true that you... Hmm.. Have powers?"

The boy glances at the flames, "Aren't you even gonna ask my name? Hmph the names Ryan. And sure I have powers. That's why I'm here isn't it?"

Jasmine looks at her feet, "Well geez you don't have to be rude." There's an awkward silence. Sky jumps up, "Ok Ryan your turn. Ask anyone."

Ryan puts his phone in his pocket, "Ok girl in the hoodie," he points to a girl staring with deep thoughts into the fire.

She doesn't hear him. "Ahem chick staring blankly into the fire," he waves his hand in front of her face.

She jumps and shakes her head. "Oh um sorry.. What is it?" she says. "What's your name and truth or dare?" Ryan asks. "My name is Karson and I pick truth. " "Ok Karson, is it true that you like someone here?" Karson starts to turn red, "Um no... I barely even know anyone here."

Ryan shrugs, "Your turn." Karson looks at all the friendly faces and stops on Sky's. "Sky truth or dare?"

Sky jumps up with anticipation, "Finally.. Hmm since I'm a daredevil.. Truth.. Just kidding I pick dare!" Jasmine facepalms, "Oh dear god please help this child." There are some snickers and chuckles from the campers.

"Ok I dare you to jump off that tree," she points to the smallest tree near. Sky laughs, "Are you kidding me?"

Ryan looks up, "What are you scared?" Sky gives him a look, "Scared me? Nope not one bit.. In fact to make Karson's dare even better.. I will jump off the tallest tree in the camp backwards! So if everyone would follow me." Sky marches down a path with everyone following behind.

They come up to a huge tree, one that is at least 100000 feet high. There are gasps from the campers. Ryan shrugs, "So anyone could do that. And you will probably try to land in this water," he nods to the lake that surrounds the giant tree.

Sky laughs as she climbs to the top of the tree and stands on the leaves at the top looking down at everyone. Jasmine yells to Sky, "On 3!" Yuu yells to Sky, "Be careful!" Sky shakes her head, "No promises!" The campers count down, "3...2...1!" Sky runs off the edge backwards and does flips and twists and lands on one hand at least 5 feet away from the water.

The campers are silent.

And then there's a burst of claps. Sky bows, "Thank you. Thank you. " Ryan's jaw is dropped. Sky walks by him and pushes it up closed. "How's that for being scared." She and the others walk back to the fire.

Jasmine checks her phone and nudges Sky. Sky claps her hands once and says, "Ok well sorry to say that truth or dare is over," there are awws from the crowd, "but you all can free roam. I will be anywhere and everywhere if you need me." With that Sky walks into the woods.

Everyone looks around at each other and shrugs then everyone goes their own way.

Chapter 2

A handsome boy in sneakers, a sweatshirt, t-shirt under, and shorts with blue eyes and black hair wanders through the forest.

Jasmine strolls through the forest stroking the trees as she goes by. She rounds a tree and runs into a boy and she falls into the pond behind her. "Ahhh!!!" she swims in the middle of the pond.

The boy immediately reaches his hand out for her to grab. "Ohmygosh. I'm sooo sorry. Umm here take my hand."

Jasmine grabs his hand and as he pulls her out she looks into his deep blue eyes. The boy flips his hair to the side of his head. "My name is James." He smiles.

Jasmine is stuck gazing in his eyes she forgets to tell him her name. "Imma- sor- umm" she stutters over her words. He looks at her in confusion. She shakes her head and starts to talk real fast, "I'm so so so sorry I just didn't see you and we rounded that tree and and.."

He cuts her off with a laugh,"Its fine. Now, what's your name?" She facepalms, "Right my name. Its Jasmine or others call me J for short." She moves a curl from in front of her eye and smiles.

"I like that name. Its pretty." James said. Jasmine starts to blush. Then she realizes that she's soaked. She looks down at her clothes,"Great. I'm soaked." she's says shaking her sleeves. "Oh right," James takes his sweatshirt off and wraps it around her shoulders, "that should at least warm ya up."

They gaze into each others eyes for a moment until a bird flies in front of them breaking the moment. "Oh um well I should be getting back." says Jasmine. "Yeah" agrees James. "Cya" they both say at the same time. They both walk away in different directions with dreamy smiles on their faces.
