Chapter 6 Challenge

Start from the beginning

"I think it's the missing black key, our Ré#. Let's take it out and put it on the piano." I suggested.

"One down, 5 to go." Said Shadow while taking the key and putting it into it's place in the piano keyboard.
Now, back to exploring.

"Found one inside the drums. Can I cut it open?" Asked Shadow.

"Whatever brings us closer to opening that door." Said Drake.

"I think there is one inside this taiko. I can hear something when I shake it." I said.

  "Well, start cutting it."
We got 2 more keys, now only 3 left.

"All those keys we found were somehow linked to percussion instruments. Let's check them all!" Realised Steph.

We went through all the percussion instruments and found 2 more keys for the piano. There was only one left and we had no idea where to look.

"AAAHHHH!!! Where the f..... there's a kid in the room.... heck is the last key??!!" I screamed.

"What would the music sound if we played with the keys we have?" Asked Steph.

I went to the piano, sat down and started playing. It sounded so familiar, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it.

"Can't we use one of the other 100 keys in the keyboard?" Said Shadow.

"I tried pulling them off, no luck." Explained Drake.

"Isn't there anything else we can use to help us out?" I asked.

"There is these music sheets. But I can't make heads or tails about it." Answered Drake.

"WHAT? What music sheets?? Why didn't you tell me earlier? Give me those!" I demanded.

After studying them for a moment I reached a conclusion.

"I can't believe it! I'm so dense! What key are we missing?" I asked.

  "Ré." They said in unison.

"That's D.(Don't you dare make a joke about us missing the D.) Which means we need to find a Violin." I concluded

"Why a violin Rebecca?" Asked Steph.

"That song is from Beethoven. It's called Für Elise. He also composed Violin Concertos, and some were in D Major. So the last key must be in a violin." I explained.

"Ok, 2 questions: 1st, what's a Concerto? And 2nd, how do you know so much about Beethoven?" Inquired Shadow.

"My parents made me have classical music lessons. They thought it would help me make friends. And a Concerto is a type of music, like a Ballad or a Rhapsody."

"Like the one from Mona Lisa?" Asked Steph with a small twinkle in her eyes.

"Mona Lisa didn't write a Ballad nor a Rhapsody." I said.

"Then 'The Ballad of Mona Lisa' wasn't written by her? But it says it's her's."

"Actually, it was written by Panic! At the Disco, really cool band. But the vocalist can be a bit creepy sometimes." Said Shadow.

After some time we found the only violin in the room, tucked away in a wooden case under the piano. When we opened it, i couldn't believe my eyes. It was the violin from the group that performed at the Titanic. I couldn't bring myself to destroy it.

"What are you waiting for? Give me that!" Shadow said as she caught the violin from the case and readied it to be smashed. I shouted for her to stop. And thank the gods that Drake was there to take the priceless instrument from her hands.

"There is a hatch on the back. If we open it, we might get the last key." He reasoned.

"And how are we going to do that?" Steph asked.

"Good thing I always carry a swiss-arm's-knife with me." Shadow said as she pulled a screwdriver from her swiss-arm's-knife.

She opened the hatch and from there, the last key fell down to the floor. She dropped the violin and picked up the key to put it in the piano. Luckily the violin was intact. I put it back on the case, and decided that if I was going to get out of the ship, I would get out of there with that violin. So I picked up the case.

"The last one is in place. Rebecca, since you know about the music, how about you play it?" Offered Drake.

  "Ok by me."

As I sat by the piano and got ready to play, Steph came by and asked if she could play it.

"Stephanie, I don't think..." Drake started to argue.

"No, it's ok, really. C'mon here Steph, play it like this." I showed her the order in which to press the keys. For some reason I felt like she was my little sister, me helping her play the piano, us both without a care in the world. Oh how I miss her.

When she pressed the last key, we all heard a sound of something unlocking. Drake saw on the side of the piano a small drawer. He called us. When I picked up it looked a bit rusty and old.

"Here goes nothing." I said as I turned the key on the keyhole.(I'll give you something if you can guess how many times I said the word Key in this part only.)

Again, we heard something unlocking, this time, it came from the door. I stood there baffled. Until Shadow 'calmly' reminded me to open the door.

I turned the knob and pushed the door open to see another hallway.

"Ok, where are we now?" I asked.
*Ding* "Opening Deck C map."

My tablet vibrated and opened an image of what should've been the map for the Deck C. Past the music room was a long hallway leading to a small room, that one leading to a bigger room.

"Ok, I found myself. Thanks tablet." I said.

  "You're welcome." Responded the tablet.

"Neat. Can ours do that as well Drake?" Steph asked him.

"I think it does. Now, let's see what awaits us in that room up front." Answered him.

We crossed the hallway, stood in front of the door for a couple of seconds and then opened the door to reveal a room filled with life threatening... food. It was full of candies and sugary stuff. Ugh I got diabetes from looking at it. We went across the room only to find out that the door was locked.

"Guess this is challenge number 2." I said.
