The Universe of One Shots

A Simple Jacket ((Lapidot))

3rd grade
As the rain poured hard a young Lapis Lazuli ran into her 3rd grade classroom. New blue shoes were now covered in some mud and her jacket was soaked in rain. She took her seat next to a small new girl who was scribbling down notes in a book. Lapis waited for the teacher to come in and start today's lesson. The bell rang and the teacher was no one in sight and the kids began to get loud. The loud voices we're however, soon silenced when the door was slammed open and Greg came running in. "I'm here students and welcome to the 3rd grade." Greg set his stuff on his desk and sighed "Instead of a lesson we are going to have some fun in the rain, because I Don't care for learning on the first day." The students erupted in excitement and Greg told them that they were going to play some hide and seek, tag in the rain. Everyone quickly ran outside ready to have fun except for Lapis and the girl next to her. Lapis looked over at the girl next to her "aren't you going to go outside?" The girl just chuckled "I'm busy right now. Why aren't you outside?" Lapis pointed to her jacket and shoes "My jacket is already soaked in rain because of the fabric it is made of and my new shoes are all muddy." The girl didn't respond right away in order to quickly finish what she was doing. After finishing she looked at Lapis "Whoa you are soaked. Do you want my jacket?" Lapis smiled but kindly rejected the girl. The girl would however not take no for an answer and she quickly handed her jacket to Lapis "I'm Peridot by the way." Lapis quickly took her jacket of and put on Peridot's "Thanks Peridot. I owe you one." Lapis was out the door quickly leaving Peridot all alone.

6th grade
The clock slowly ticked on the last day of 6th grade. A impatient Lapis sat in her chair tapping her fingers on the desk while she watched the clock. *ring ring ring* the lunch bell sounded and everyone stood quickly running to the lunch line. Lapis and one other person were the last two out of the classroom. The girl was finishing her notes and Lapis was tying one of her shoes. As soon as Lapis tied the first one she ran to the door only to fall hard on the ground and scrape her arms. In a matter of seconds the other girl was by Lapis's side trying to help her out.

Peridot-"are you okay. That fall looked bad?"

Lapis-"yea. Just my arms are probably bleeding"

Peridot pointed at her sleeve "Can I see"

Lapis rolled her sleeves up and saw a lot of blood "My Jacket. My shirt. They are covered in blood."

Peridot frowned "The fabric your jacket was made of is really bad when you fall on it and since your sleeves we so high Up the fabric just rubbed the skin away."

Lapis started to cry "what do I do?"

Peridot took of her jacket and handed it to Lapis "Just take mine."

Lapis eyes lit up in happiness "Thank you stranger."

Lapis tied her shoe and ran off leaving Peridot alone just like 3rd grade.

9th grade
The flash of green was seen through the halls as Peridot ran down looking for her friend Jasper. "Jasper. Jasper. Jasper. Where are you" she called. After rounding the corner Peridot saw Jasper with a familiar girl. The girl was slammed against the lockers by Jasper who was now yelling for her lunch money. After refusing to give any money Jasper stuffed the girl into a locker and left. Peridot being the good girl she was quickly ran to that locker and opened it. The locker opened and reveling the girl Peridot had developed a crush on, Lapis Lazuli. Peridot saw tears dripping down her face when Lapis looked up at her "Are you ok?" Lapis shook her head and asked Peridot to help her out of the locker. Peridot helped Lapis out and noticed her jacket was ripped "What happened to your Jacket?" Lapis looked behind her at the tear "I guess Jasper ripped it when he grabbed." Peridot sighed and took off her jacket "Might as well take mine. I don't need it." Lapis smiled and thanked Peridot as she put on the jacket. Lapis ran to her class after this realizing she was going to be late "Bye Peri. Thanks again."
