Chapter 1

The last memory I have is driving to my bowling tournament, dialing my friend for directions. All of a sudden, everything explodes, and for a brief second, time stops. I feel a pool of water flow by my foot on the pedal. The ground bends around me, as if it was bowing to me. A flame ignites in my passenger seat, but then sparks out as if it was never there at all. Then, everything went black.

"Paige." I hear a female voice. "Wake up, Paige." My eyes flipped open. I'm in a hospital bed. That's odd. I don't remember how I got here. All I remember is that strange feeling and an explosion. A woman with sapphire blue eyes, bobbed brown hair, and light skin, was sitting at the foot of my bed. She looked like a receptionist or a businesswoman, with her fancy pinstriped suit.

"Ah, Paige, I imagine you must be very confused. Let me clear this up for you. Three days ago, you were in an awful car accident. One Mr. Thomas, the one who put you in this hospital, was driving in a hazardous drunk state. He passed out and lost control of the wheel, and crashed into you. When he came to, he saw you unconscious in your car and called the ambulance."

"That would explain why it hurts all over." I pressed the button on my bed that put me in a reclining or upright position.

"Yes. But there is more. Mr. Thomas was carrying three vats of radioactive gasoline." Wait. Did she say radioactive?!

"I am not done. An effect of the radioactive explosion, was that it gave you... new abilities."

"Hold on. What do you mean by new abilities? I feel exactly the same than before the accident." Then I remembered that weird feeling.

"My name is Vanessa Bluefire. I have been assigned to help you by A.A.S.H."

"Who's Ash? What are my new abilities?" I ask. Vanessa closed her mouth. And smiled at me. Then I heard her voice in my head.

"This is classified information, so I am depending on your abilities. Nod once if you can hear me." I nod once. "Excellent. Don't worry, you're not going crazy."

"That's good. Now can you tell me why you're in my head, or who Ash is, or what the hell is happening to me?!" I think to her.

"I will answer all of those questions. Let me start with you. Brace yourself. You have superpowers."

"WHAT?!?! You have to be joking."

"I assure you I am not.

"I don't believe it. This is crazy. This is a dream. I am going to wake up any second." What the hell was happening to me?

"I will explain more tomorrow, I have a very important meeting to attend. Your family is waiting."
