In the United Kingdom alone there are currently over 57,000 children identified as needing protection from abuse, but for every child identified as needing protection from abuse, another 8 are suffering abuse.
In the USA alone, 400,000 babies will be born in 2017 that will undergo some form of sexual abuse by the time they reach the age of 18.
1 out of 20 boys will go through sexual abuse, and 1 out of 5 girls is being sexually abused before the age of 18. The most of these cases will happen while the child is between 7 and 13 years old.
In 93% of cases reported the victim known the predator who is doing this to them.
And that is only the cases that we know of. This is only reported cases of children who have spoken out, but we know there are millions out there still suffering abuse, wanting help but not knowing where to go to. Not knowing who to tell. Afraid of what just might happen.
At Rising Angels we want to tell you that you are not alone. You are not another statistic. We want to help you. At Rising Angels you can stay anonymous and we will be here to provide an ear and shoulder; but we will also stand by you as soon as you decide you want it all just to stop. Suicide is not the answer. Speaking up and having people standing behind you, helping you through every step to make things just a little bit better is.
At Rising Angels we want to make people aware of what is really going on out there. With many authors on Wattpad telling their stories, children on Facebook and Youtube coming out about their sexual abuse, and supporting survivors in forums and chats, we would like to grow a community that will help and support each other in saying: let's spread the word, because that is the only form of prevention and the only way we will be able to say; it gets better.
So support Rising Angels by downloading our sticker and putting it onto your profile photo or Wattpad book concerning abuse, because the only way to combat this problem is by making people aware of it. Let us stand together in creating a community who can stand together and say: suicide is not the way out, because even angels with scars on their wings can fly to the very top of the mountain.
Every day we will choose a "book of the day", and yes, every single book will have a chance, because every story is worth telling. Every single book has a special place in its writers heart and deserves the recognition.
Every day the chosen book will be promoted and by the end of the week all seven books for the week will be promoted on Facebook where you can urge your friends and followers to vote for your book as the book of the week. After a week we will announce the winner of "book of the week" that will then become the top promoted book for the following week.
Every month the four "books of the week" will go into a competition where fans and followers will be able to vote for their ultimate favourite. The winners book will be promoted daily for the next month on social media, banners of our Facebook pages, twitter, etc.
Follow the instructions below and enter to become our next "book of the week/month".
1. Follow our "Rising Angels" profile on Wattpad and Facebook.
2. Leave a comment here in the section with your book's name and how you think it fits in with our campaign.
3. Download the "Rising Angels" sticker (the blue heart encased in golden wings) and put it on the cover of your Wattpad book.
We will then contact you via a Personal Message as soon as your book is being promoted and part of the competition. So please share your story with us. Show the children and teens out there that there is how. If we could survive, they can too!
And lastly... Support your fellow writers on Wattpad. Have a look at our "Survivors" Reading List here on Wattpad. Leave a comment, send a PM and vote. Let them know they are not alone. Support your fellow competitors, since they might also be going through a rough time and you can maybe be of help by just sending that one message. Your one message can stand between a teen holding on and soaring high, or giving up and falling to the ground.
Remember: If you are going through any type of abuse and just need someone to talk to or to just be there for you, please send us a message here on Wattpad. You can address your message to either Jaygé (male survivor who went through sexual abuse for many years), or Natasha (female survivor of rape). We are always available and always happy to just give a shoulder and ear.
