The one thing you can never count on in this world, is if you will see your family again. You know death is coming, you know tragedy or prosperity will eventually come to you, but what about the ones that cared for you in the beginning. What if you never see them laugh, smile, cry, or just love you again? Family was so strong in our community it truly was the only thing holding us together, in this world bursting with anger, fear, and uncertainty. The tulips surrounding me, blowing with the gentle summer breeze, put me into a state of rest as I look over the cliff with jagged rocks at the bottom, always inviting death to people from this miserable world.

Now being twenty-two I can count how many of my friends I lost to this cliff, because they had no more purpose in life. Sad thing is no one was stopping them. With the constant uproars the gods and goddess bring about to us, and the constant choosing they make, death did seem like a fast ticket to relief. My older brother the soon to be chief of our village was chosen 12 years ago to enter the game right on my birthday. The goddess Luna, chose him, but no matter how much I screamed, cried, and pleaded she took him from me. My family was devastated, I was devastated. Not even Kazumi my dearest and best friend could cheer me up. I stayed cramped in my puny room just staring at the beautiful drawing he made for me as a gift on that dreaded day.

The days were ticking down to my ceremonial day where I become chief in place of my father. Getting up from the field and looking towards my house, I saw the worst thing imaginable. The goddess Luna, heading towards my house.
