It was Gally. How could it be him? He had always been careful, smart, and strong enough to be able to take down a simple Griever. Something must've happened midway into the maze.

The MedJacks were starting to get out the serum for the Griever poisons. Me on the other hand, I was attempting to find the mark where the Griever had scratched him. Unfortunately, that would be easy if not for the fifteen Gladers asking if he was okay so the only thing I could do was shoo them off quickly and check his body only to find a long bloody scratch across his shoulder. My first instinct was to grab a pair of scissors and cut off his sleeve where a deep cut greeted me, black vain like things started sprouting from the cut. Unfortunately, I was not a med jack so I was automatically shoved away from Gally, me desperately clawing at the tall guy with curly blonde hair. Though I was aware there wasn't much i could do because as was mentioned; I'm not a Medjack.

I was upset beyond imagination but I needed to face the facts there was nothing I could do about it. False hope would get me no where. Trying to help would get me no where since I would only be in the way of the Medjacks. A few of the Gladers approached me and offered condolences. I might have snapped at a few of them for being so crude to think that Gally was dying. That's just when I realize how much I relied on him and actually cared about him.

*Flashback*

Suddenly, she can hear tearing of roots as the boy began to destroy the plants. Without hesitation she screamed out and tried to pry the boy off of the plants but he pushes her off easily. She runs at him but he grabs the shovel and hits her at the side of the head with it.

"HELP!!!!" Another boy who had been working on the grape vines screamed.

(Y/N) winced slightly as she peeled an eye open. The shovel wasn't quite strong enough to send her unconscious but it hurt like a bitch to her.

Footsteps approached which seemed to be in a run. Two or so sets of feet approached.

Newt and Gally had ran up to her. Newt was holding a bandage in his hand while Gally was busy holding a cold water bottle to her cheek. "I'll apply it.. Newt... Go get Alby.." Gally ordered.

(Y/N) looked up slowly. Her eyes glistening lightly as she stares at the boy in front of her. He seemed so delicate at the situation she couldn't help but reach over and stroke his cheek which quickly caught his attention.

"Thanks.." (Y/N) whispered as she felt blood trickle down her forehead. It was warm. So warm.

Gally gasped as he looked down at the bandages. He realized his task as he wrapped them delicately around her forehead. "Okay that's it... Your taking a break..."

(Y/N) couldn't help but laugh At his words. He was so worried which made her find him so cute. "I'm fine.. Really."

*End of Flashback*

I placed a cold hand against my forehead, breaking down into a sob, hugging myself.

An obnoxious crack ripped through the air causing me to gasp and whip around to see Newt.

Newt.

It was a little strange to see him in such a pitiful state. Newt had been near the entrance waiting for Gally. That's what I remembered but there was something off. I couldn't put myself up to thinking on what or how. The Maze was evil. I knew. Somehow I knew and I couldn't put my finger as to what.

"Hey. I know that you've received a lot of pity for Gally but I'm not here to do that. I legitimately want to know how you're feeling." Newt spoke, fidgeting. His hair caught my attention and I chuckled. It was so long. Cutting it would be useful but I couldn't blame him for liking his long hair. He looked like he had a lot on his mind. I wouldn't pry.

"I'm fine. Honestly, I'd prefer if Gally had been a little more careful." I spoke, looking back down at my hands. All I could see was fresh red on them. It was my own.
