"Hey." Troy flicked my arm. "How was your game?"
I sighed as I took my shin guards off, the velcro interrupting the soft silence of snoring soccer players as the bus drove through the night. "We lost 3-4. Our offense still needs some work."
Troy let out a soft laugh, combing his fingers through his hair with one hand. "We won 7-0. The team we went against had horrible defense. We just kept on making overhead through balls and they didn't even try to stop us."
I slid my headband and hairtie off of my hair. That was one benefit of straight hair. "Almost makes you feel bad for the other team, huh?"
He grinned at me. "Not really."
"Sadist."
"Seems like you're just bitter from losing."
I punched his shoulder. "Fight me, Troy."
"Maybe tomorrow, sunshine. I'm gonna try to get some sleep."
I watched the trees pass as rain flecked the window. It was just cold enough where I could put on a jacket, but not cold enough where I would get goosebumps. The bus was soft whispers and snores as the rain pattered against the roof, traveling through the night.
Just as I was about to reach down for my soccer bag to get my jacket, a weight fell upon my shoulder. Troy, his long eyelashes brushing against his cheekbones, huffed quietly as he slept. I sighed and leaned back against the seat, Troy's head leaning down on mine. I guess I didn't need that jacket.
