The depth

In the shallows standing there,
You are so unaware,
So you just blankly stare,
You don't even think to prepare,
And you don't see the world is actually fair,
The world takes what it gives,
It provides to those who live,
Only half way up to your ankle,
And you think you are drowning,
Your head starts pounding,
The world keeps demanding more,
But you just keep standing there sore,
Some people are poor at earth and rich in the soul,
Some people are rich but have a heart of coal,
But some stand in the shallow,
Cold and hallow,
Others sink in the deep,
Others fall off of a cliff that's steep,
Nowhere near the water,
But their legs did falter,
They fell into the deep,
And others watched and weep,
But that's when you see the truth,
The truth so rarely seen by youth,
Even those who have been here for decades,
They never see the deep then start to understand but the deep watch them decay,
Forever seen but never felt,
One single word and others hearts began to melt,
A poet of power,
But a killer with a heart so sour,
A person who stops the works from it devour,
Others are still standing in the shallow,
Just stand there watching the water,
But their life becomes harder,
They start to forget the sight the saw,
They soon miss their fatal flaw,
Standing in the shallow,
Minds mellow
