Prologue

2020 was the year that our world came to an end. One billion lives were taken on the first night. A few months later an EMP strike took out the power to everything. This lead to people panicking even more and killing each other for survival. After all electronics went down, the last known death toll was 7 billion in three months. In just three months our world fell into darkness.

Rae was just 12 years old. Her memories from First Night all disappeared. She only remembers the constant running with her mother, but even that part of her memory is blurry. The only thing that she knew every detail to was the death of her father. A year passed by and now Rae and her mother were part of a small group of survivors. Everyone helped each other and learned how to defend themselves. All thanks to a man named Keli'i, Rae was the top fighter among the kids. Not long after her mom and Keli'i fell in love. He then introduced them to his two children, Kaliana and Kama. Kaliana was one year older than Rae and she had long, curly black hair. Kama was the youngest out of all three of them. He was 12 years old and has brown hair. The year Rae turned 15, her family and their whole group saw a small town. That place will now be their new home. They walked up to a sign and felt relieved.
