Arthur stood in front of a man, who was bowing in front of his king. He took the ceremonial sword, and gently tapped both of the mans shoulders with it. The small crowd applauded politely, and everyone started heading for the door. Suddenly, before anyone could exit, there was a loud thump, and Arthur had fallen unconscious on the floor. The smell of sulfur filled the air, as Gaius hurriedly escorted Arthur to his chambers.
---------------
"Your majesty?" Gaius asked, for the third time.
Arthur's eyes slowly began to open. At first glance, you would have thought his eyes to be pitch black. After you had taken a second glance, you would see that all was normal.
Arthur blinked a few times, the backs of his eyes itching.
"Your majesty, Arthur, are you alright?"
The elderly physician questioned.
Arthur grinned. "I feel...splendid! This body- I mean, my body feels like it could go on forever without stopping!"
Gaius raised his permanently raised eyebrow. "What is that supposed to mean, sire?"
"Oh, nothing, Gaius. Where's Merlin? Drunk at the tavern?" The demon guessed. Searching through Arthur's mind, this seemed to be where he thought Merlin to be all day.
Oblivious prat. The unknown demon sneered inside Arthur's mind.
"No, sire, I believe he's-"
"I'm, well, right here." Merlin coughed from the corner.
"Ah. Merlin." Arthur seemed to be smiling so much, his mouth looked as if it would fall off any second. "Come. We must go train the knights!"
"Sire, it's still breakfast time." Merlin noted.
"Ah. Yes. Breakfast. That is... what I meant."
Merlin and Gaius both shared a questioning look. They both mentally agreed to speak later. Arthur started waking out the door.
"Merlin? You coming?"
