It's everywhere, but nowhere at the same time. Every bush is rustling and noises are coming from all around me, but I can't see anything. My bare feet hurt from stepping on so many tiny rocks and sticks. My body's aching from running and my head's pounding due to having so many troubling thoughts. I can hear a voice screaming my name in the distance but no matter which way I go it only seems to be getting further away. I need to stop, I can't run any further. My breathing has become labored by the time my legs slow down and all I can do is stand there, panting as the tears roll down my face. The voice is telling me things now and it reminds me of someone screaming in my face, yet they're too far away for me to hear what they're saying. Smoke is starting to rise in front of me and it's not long until I feel the flames stinging the tips of my fingers. I turn around and start to run again, desperate to get away from the burning brightness. I hear someone chanting my name again, demanding for an answer to a question that I could no longer even remember. "Leave me alone!" I try to yell, but there's no stopping the fire that's quickly catching up to me. A scream get's caught in my throat, as the flare finally swallows me.
Tsukishima snapped awake, quickly sitting up on his bed. Sweat was dripping down the side of his face, although his bedsheets had been kicked off ages ago. He let out a shaky breath, running his fingers through his messy hair in attempt to even out his breathing. He swung his legs off the edge of the bed and to the floor, then stood up and headed into the bathroom to take a shower.
"You look tired" Yamaguchi commented as he walked down the school hall with Tsukishima. He looked up at the taller male with a slightly concerned expression. He eyed the dark circles under the blond's eyes and noticed that his skin looked paler too "Are you sick?".
"I just had a bit of trouble sleeping, I'm alright" Tsukishima nodded, staring straight ahead.
"Are you sure?" the younger boy continued, dodging some older students and fixing the strap of his backpack on his shoulder "Should you go see the nurse? I'll come with you. I'm sure Daichi won't mind you missing a day of practice if you're not feeling we-"
"I'm fine, Yamaguchi". The firmer tone shut Yamaguchi's mouth and he nodded slowly, now just following Tsukishima to the gym.
"Tsukki, remember that blocking thing you do? The thing where you jump and don't let the other team score? You should try that again" Tanaka was just full of funny jokes today.
"Jump a bit higher, Tsukishima" Daichi requested.
"You're a bit out of it today, are you okay?" Sugawara.
"Get your head right and focus" Kageya-
"Just get a better blocker then!". The words left Tsukishima's mouth before he could stop them. Everyone turned to look at him, shocked by his very unusual outburst. The tall player shook his head, throwing the ball he was holding at Kageyama before he turned around and exited the gym. Kageyama barely caught the ball and stumbled back a few steps, then turned to look at Yamaguchi with an expression that was unsure if the whole thing had actually just happened. Yamaguchi didn't look back at him though, but instead jogged off after his friend, leaving his team to finish the practice on their own.
