Ding Dong! Helen, a maid at the Bellair mansion, ran to open the door.
"Hello Adam, come on in."
"Hey Helen," said Aang cheerfully. "Is Grace up yet?"
Upon hearing the doorbell, Leo Bellair came to the door to see who it was, though he already had a good idea of who it was. Adam came over every school day to pick up Grace ever since he learned to drive.
"Hello Adam."
"Hey Leo, is Grace up yet?" (A/N- Adam is on a first name basis with Grace's father because he's known him for years. Grace is the same way with Adam's stepfather.)
"No, I think she's still sleeping. You know how she can be on Monday mornings," laughed Leo. "Why don't you go get her up? You seem to have more luck than the rest of us."
"Though I don't know why," said Adam.
"I think it's because she has a soft spot for you," replied Leo truthfully.
"Well I should hope I did by now. I mean, I've only known her our whole lives. I'd hope I'd get a soft spot by now," Adam joked.
He walked past Leo to the large stair case and jogged upstairs to Grace's room. He walked past all the other doors upstairs that lead to other random rooms. When he reached Grace's room, the large doors were slightly open, but he knocked anyways.
"Hey Grace, can I come in?" he asked poking his head in the door. He heard a loud moan come from her bed and saw a lazy hand wave him in.
He walked into her overly huge room and walked next to her bed and started shaking her shoulder.
"Grace, come on, it's time to get up and go to school."
"I don't want to get up high tops," Grace whined as she pulled he pillow over head to try and block Adam out. ( she calls him high tops because of his height)
Adam thought for a minute, and then smiled as he thought about another way to get her up. He grabbed the sheets that covered her up and yanked them off of her so that they were hanging over the edge of her bed.
To this, Grace lifted her pillow off of her head and, with a smile on her face, joking called out, "Rape! Rape!"
At that, Adam jumped on her bed, leaned over her, and started tickling her stomach. She laughed and tried to defend herself against his fingers, but failed miserably.
The two teens were laughing so loudly, they just barely heard Leo in the doorway say, "Have you succeeded in getting Grace up yet Adam?'
Adam stopped tickling Grace and leaned back on his knees. "I think I did, but I might have tickled her to death," he said smiling.
Both Leo and Grace laughed at that. "I'm up, and you haven't killed me yet High tops."
Leo left the doorway as both Grace and Adam hopped off the bed. Grace reached up and stretched her arms over her head and yawned. Adam smiled over at her. His best friend was amazing. Grace was born blind but that never stopped her from doing things like a normal person, unless it came to water. She taught herself to "see" through vibrations in the ground and her dad bought her special books and computers so she could use them as well.
"Alright High tops, since you're the one that got me up, you have to pick out what I'm wearing today," Grace said smugly.
"Me?" Adam asked stupidly while pointing to himself.
"Yes, you High tops," Grace laughed.
"But I have no sense of style."
"Yours is better than mine," she said while waving her hand in front of her face.
