Kirkland Melbourne got of the plane at exactly three then catch a cab to town on tenth avenue five years seems longer the whole town has change he hardly remember some of it for it has developed he was hoping not to miss his way to the gift shop he knew Kerry would still be working and wanted to see her right away
He got out the cab right in front of kerry cassidy gift shop it was just the same as he had left it apart from freshly painted. it was a week before Christmas and people was going in and out a very busy day for her Kirkland pulled his peek cap down his face and walk in and just as she was coming around the counter they bumb in to each other.
"Sorry" she said never realizing who it was thinking he was a shopper when he remove his hat and she look in his face she almost scream covering her mouth looking at him with surprise eyes he was smiling at her and the only thing change about him was that his once slim shoulders has expand making him look more man now than boy at twenty seven, he wore bright red T-shirt silm fitting jeans and his camera slung over his neck Kirkland was a professional photographer he's been doing so since he was a teenager he has a career in picture taking and he loves it he wanted to live big from it and had gone over sea's to push it further his work was going fine but his marriage was falling apart for so many reason and he had to get away
"You! Are here" she was surprise overwhelmingly surprised she didn't expected him to be back
"Not happy to see me ?"
She wasn't at lease bit happy to see him they talk often and she was glad to hear his voice but how could she say she was happy to see him and she wasn't
"I am" she lie hugging him I'm more than happy "
"You look great " he told her turning her around to have a better look at her then back to face him "I miss you" he hug her
"Mom a small voice came when he move away from her he saw the little boy looking up at him.
" mom"Kirkland said with a surprise laugh "you got a son?" He ask she nod "I didn't know that" he smile at her "that's great you're a mom so do I know the lucky guy?"
"No and I rather not to talk about it"
"OK " he said
The thing she love about him was that he never push an argument that seems to make you uncomfortable when he started asking how it was with business she manage to keep up though it was making her uncomfortable just being in his present.
Much as she was busy with her customers she kept watch as he sat with kirky playing with a pop up book and a small toy truck.she couldn't hear what he was saying to him and it make her on edge.soon as her last customer left she close up they were standing in the parking lot face to face kirky tucked away in the back of her car all belted in "nice kid" Kirkland said "I didn't get his name"
"Kk " kerry told him
"Kk " he said with a nod "I will see you" he told her
"How is your wife ?" Kerry ask interesting to know if he was here alone.
"She' s around" he said Kerry though he ment here but she wasn't on the island and he wasn't sure when he would be going back "ok are you sure you don't want me to drop you?"
"I, I'll be fine don't worry " he touch her face "see you around he walk away waving to kk Kerry watch as he wave back with smiling face Kerry got home speeding she grab the phone an while she look after something for kk she call her sister.
Stacey cassidy pick up on the first ring " hey sis"she said when she open the line "sister " she said when Kerry didn't respond "Kerry are you there is everything alright?" She ask
Kerry take a deep breath before she speak she could talk to her sister for they were second best friends she was the only one she could tell about her night with kirlland so she knew kirky was his she name him thinking it was only fair Stacey was older by four years she was thirty one for her birthday was gone a week ago she was married with three children the oldest six and the youngest eight month's old all girls her job was at a dear care center where she did nursing, mark Bryan her husband was in the police force unlike most cops he was perfect a good husband too the best father he some how remind Kerry of her dad who was no longer with then he died a while back for he had suffer a stroke her mom take it to heart that it send her nerves in to early retirement she was now at st gorge's home for the age both Stacey and Kerry make time to visit and always gone together it was hard seeing her the way she was but they never felt discouraged Kerry pray that she didn't have to end up like her mother for at times things got so frustrated that she felt she would have a nervous breakdown. She didn't like to bother her sister especially when she was home with mark "He's here" she said
"What are you saying who's here?"
"Kirkland He's here I saw him he came to the gift shop"
"He is back and he came to see you?"
"I'm nervous sis "
"Don't worry him being here won't do anything you know his wife she 'll be watching him twenty fore seven " Kerry hope her sister was right they talk a while about their mom Stacey ask how kirky was doing kerry told her he was doing great ask her a bout her children they all were doing fine they hang up and she give Kirkland abath and read his book to him and watch him until he fell asleep.
She was on the stairs going down when the phone on the kitchen wall rang when she hurry to get it she open the line only to hear Kirkland voice. She let herself sounded happy to hear him
"Hey you sound settled in" she try to make the conversation sound normal
"I'm kinda staying with mom you know"
Hella Morris was a single mom ever since she came to know them it's been just the two of them the man she got pregnant for ran off leaving them when Kirkland was only a few months that was what he told her she work two jobs waiting table at a small bar in the city and laundry for a small hotel not so far from the bar she manage to send him to good school now he was a photographer he wasn't just good he was the best Kerry "I just wanted to tell you in case you need to reach me"
She laugh "okay"
"You know if you need anything,anything at all you can always ask "
"Okay" she said though she would never ask him for any thing more than what he had give"so is your mom alright?she ask
"My mom is great believe it she is still standing ferm I tell you, your mom?"
"Still in the same position" Kerry said with a sigh
He could hear the depression in her voice he wanted to say sorry but it would make no sense "maybe I could come see her with you would that be OK?"
"I would have no problem but you know she won't remember you"
"That's OK ,the boy sleeping right?"
"Yeah "
"You know there were other name's that the boy could have "
"My sister name him"
Kirkland laugh "leave it to stacey how are they anyway I saw her and her nice family on Facebook I only knew the first child"

"See you" he hang up leaning his back to the kitchen counter he sigh he can't believe he was still this affected of her she haven't change much just got sexier she was hot he never realize he needed her so much until he saw her with her child he envey her for she be came a mother and he wasn't able to get any children he hope that she wouldn't get with anyone thou it was pretty unfair for he was married and she wasn't in love with him she love him only because they were best friends he close his eyes squeezing the thoughts away.
"Kirkland" his mother's voice came to him he open his eyes to see her standing in front of him"you alright ?" She ask out of concerned
"Kerry got a son and we talk so often and she never told me"
His mother eyes widen "Kerry got a son?"
"So you knew nothing of it?"
"No" she was surprise she saw Kerry for she was even at the gift shop sometime. The door bell rang and Kirkland excuse himself to get it for he was expecting Jake to stop by he walk away leaving her puzzling .
Jake Lambert greet Kirkland with a tight hug "man it's good to see you I missed you man"
"Yeah me too man come on in" he step aside and he walk in
"You left the bitch in new York " Jake ask grinning
"Hello miss Morris " he said greeting her by kissing her hand "how are you mam?"
"I'm OK you know thanks for asking good to see you say hello to your family for me and you take care "
"Yes mam "
She kiss Kirkland goodnight before going off to her room down the hall her house was a five bedroom flat for she didn't like the idea of a bigger house for she was living a lone they sat to gether when her door closes neither up for a drink so they both ignore the bottle of gyn on the center table
"See your best friend yet?" Jake ask
"Yes I have "
"So you met your son?"
"What you talking about man? I told you nothing happen between Kerry and I and, and,and if it did I couldn't get her pregnant nothing happened I swear"
"What do you mean couldn't get her pregnant "
"Doctor told me I can't get my wife pregnant"
"You should be happy about that you don't want to tie yourself to her by having a child with her but just because you can't get her pregnant doesn't mean and thing, but you know she's up to no good Right?"
"Two doctors same results"
"Maybe that's because you already get Kerry pregnant so what did she tell you about the father?"
"It was no body I know and she didn't want to talk about it .
That morning of your wedding when I find you ass naked on her couch you should have seen the look on her face I've never seen the girl so nervous before "
"I ask her she said nothing happen she would have told me if we had sex we are friends "
"Did she tell you she was pregnant did she tell you she has the boy?"
He shook his head wondering how she didn't mention it he sigh he didn't believe the boy was his as he don't believe they had sex."man"he said
"Yeah" Jake said they sigh with anod as they get more relax jumping in to something more business like .
Since Kirkland would be here for a while he was planning on setting up a studio because Jake has his construction team working with he wanted him to set it up he was just going to repair the old house they live in before his mother move here it maybe cost him but he wasn't bit worried about it and Jake was like a brother he knew he wouldn't kill him atal
They agree to go see the place the following day and Jake left after ahand shake
"See you tomorrow" Kirkland told him.
"Yes sir" Jake smile and nod walking away before Kirkland close the door he walk back to the couch and sat with his head in his palm his mind flashes back to the morning of his wedding but no matter what he just couldn't remember it wasn't that has was believe what Jake said for no way he could have gone to two doctors who would tell him the same thing and he 's been trying real hard to get
his wife pregnant
Marsha Simpson wasn't the least bit interested in having a child, a child didn't fit in her life style for she was a party person she's been on the pills for years since she was old enough to be with a man and as been extra careful with the way she take them in man was going to get her pregnant Kirkland has been pressuring her for a family which she had promise by Noway could she be so stupid good thing he was making money she played the doctors to tell him he couldn't get her pregnant he had buy in to it for the time the have been trying and nothing was happening he was frustrated but Marsha didn't care it was better him than her what with some men and children she thought if any man believe they can burden me with all that they re crazy, she wasn't letting him go no matter what he was going to make sure she retire in fine style even if they were sleeping on the street now!
