Kara's POV
Look at me, the youngest COO my company's ever had. You'd think I'd be happy. No, just grateful that I have a good...no, great paying job. It's hard for me to be in the city and sit in my penthouse/office all day and run around attending meetings and making deals. It really weighs down on me. Especially for a girl who's been rolling around in mud her whole life.
I grew up in a small fishing community along the cost of Washington. My parents both owned a tackle and bait shop that was well known in my town. Everyone knew each other, the news spread like wildfire when I landed this job. It was quite a shocker when me, being the nature lover that I am, got a job at a very successful software company. Now, you might be wondering why I took the job and not spend the rest of my life, working 5 to 9 in veterinarian office or something like that. I've always wanted to get out of that small town and travel to another place, start a new adventure and a new life. Besides I didn't just abandon my old life I still visit my folks and help them with the shop when I'm not caught up at work. I either do that or go to my cabin. When I have a clear schedule I like to go up there and clear my head, I might take a few documents with me to work on or look over.
"Kara. . ." a voice peeped out from behind the door with a soft knock. "Come in." I announced. My new secretary poked her head out from around the door. "Yes?" I asked. "M-Miss Kara, you have a call on line 2." She softly said.
"Thank you."
My finger pressed lightly over the button as I put the phone up to my ear. There was a lot of commotion the sound of glasses clinging together and loud laughter and talking. I instantly knew who it was.
"What do you want Wade?" I growled.
"Oh come on doll, is that anyway to talk to your soon to be boss?" He slurred back. He yelled something else, I'm guessing to someone who was in the background. "Wade, you really need to get your act together. I'm surprised you still have a job let alone be offered the position."
"Mmmm, me and you should celebrate sometime, sweetie. It'll do you some good." "Maybe an AA meeting will do you some good." I said before hanging up.
I'm so glad that I'm gonna be off work for a few weeks. I can go to my cabin and relax then go up and see my folks.
Sorry that the first one was short I took some time off from this and my writing isn't as it used to be.
