Numb fingers turned the final page, closed the book and carefully placed it on the bedside table. Glassy eyes gazed with confusion at the nearest wall, mind fractured, desperately trying to fit this new information into a world view that was being hastily reworked. The tousled head began to shake, denial evident in every movement. Grief followed hard, bowing body and clenching insides. "No,no, NO!" Exploding from the bed, grief no longer able to be contained. Hands scrubbed at a face covered in tears, pulling at hair already disheveled, all the while the litany of denial continued. Finally, spent and slumping to the floor, hands reached for the book, caressing it longingly, lovingly. "How could you?" She whispered, "John Green, how could you?"
