Energy Sword Stuff

The Type 1 Energy sword is a blade weapon usual used by the Sangheili (Elites) of the Covenant or the Swords of Sanghelios. This "energy" is a state of matter called plasma that is suspended in a magnetic field. The hilt of the sword is where the plasma is generated from. Plasma is a superheated gas. The hilt is basically a battery that suspends the field and crates the plasma. Maybe the sound that it makes when turned on is the sound of the air inside the magnetic fields ionizing and turning into plasma.

The blades are split in the middle. Seems like a tactical disadvantage right? Wrong! Look at the way the blade gap shrinks. The sword gap is meant to trap the opponents blade in order to deliver a kill blow. The prophets bane has a hand guard that protects the users hand. I think it is safe to say the hilt is armed with some sort of magnetic refraction device to "break" the opponents blade and knock them off balance.

In older versions of the sword, prongs would stick out the back, do you think you would stab yourself? Probably if you were a human. Lets do an experiment. Look at your hand. You have four fingers and a thumb. You can rotate you hand on the bones in your wrist. Now try moving your hand toward your thumb. Difficult right? Well if you move your hand any other way then it is easier. But how does this tie into the energy sword prongs of forearm death? Simple, look at an Elite's hand. They have two thumbs which means their hand can only move one way, the others are limited. The swords prongs wouldn't affect the Elite as much as it would Humans because an Elite's wrist can't roll like ours!

Why can't you pick up energy swords in Halo Combat Evolved? On the Halo wiki it states that the energy sword has a fail safe installed to ensure the opponent wasn't able to acquire it after their death. After falling to the ground, it self destructs, which would explain the noise it makes when deactivating in Halo combat evolved, the battery seared itself and became none functional. Why it wasn't incorporated later? I don't know, maybe the Merchants of Qikost got lazy and didn't put it in for greater customization. *The Merchants of Qikost are weapons manufacturers, not like the Khajiit of Elsweyr
