IF ONLY I WERE A BOY:

If  only I were a boy

You would find me riding a bicycle

Through all those dirty, forbidden streets

You would find me chasing a dog

Who stole our red cricket ball

If only I were a boy.

If only I were a boy

I would run, scream and play in the rain

I would bathe with the petrichor, get soaked in mud

I would open my shirt and let the water touch my body

If only I were a boy.

If only I were a boy

You would find me in the garage of Mr. Scott

Spraying paint all over his cars

You would find me hiding on a mango tree

Running over the fences and all the bars

If only I were a boy.

I watch these boys spend their boyhood

My heart yearns to join their adventures

As I see these boys through my window

My mind repeats over and over,

'If only I were a boy,'

'If only I were a boy.'
