Someone stroked her hair softly and her eyes slowly blinked open to look up at Bellamy. "You kept your promise." Her whisper crackled in the dark.

"What are you talking about?" he asked with a voice that sounded like hot chocolate.

"You didn't change, even when I did."

He chuckled. "Go back to sleep, Jin."

Then she woke up and found that the night was still. She could breathe without scraping air against her throat, her insides no longer burned with hellfire. Jinny pushed herself up from the hammock she was lying in and looked around. Her eyes fell on Bellamy lying nearby, a sheen of sweat across his skin and blood staining his face. Trepidation squeezed her heart as she dropped down to her knees beside him.

"Bell?" she whispered, gripping his cold fingers tightly. Jinny smoothed his hair back, damp and matted to his forehead in dark tendrils.

He opened his eyes and rasped. "Jin. Thank God."

She couldn't believe she had gone through this state and came out alive, but she knew that he would do the same. "You'll be okay too. We'll both be okay."

"I'm okay now." He attempted to get up but only managed to cough up blood. He rolled to the side and retched out some more. "I'll be okay in a sec."

"Stop acting such a man," she told him, leaning over and grabbing hold of his boot.

"What are you doing?" he asked in alarm.

"You always said you wanted a new pair of boots," she said.

"Jin, no!" he cried pitifully before falling back onto the mattress. She took them off and tied the shoelaces together.

"Hey." Jinny turned back to him before bending down and pressing her lips against his cheek. "It's your turn to rest."

Her body still felt weak, but she could now fire a gun and that was all she really needed to do. Standing up with tremulous effort and boots in hand, she walked forwards to the entrance of the dropship and looked up at the star dusted sky. She breathed in the quake of fear in the air and exhaled ascendancy in its place.

"Jinny?!" Someone gasped and she turned her head to find Monty grinning up at her. He started to cheer. "The Commander's back!! Whoo!"

Voices broke out around the camp, murmurs that grew into exclamation and exhilaration. Faces appeared from the dark, lit up by the orange flicker of torches, looking up at her with reverence. Her eyes searched the camp, calculating numbers, and she held a hand up to silence everyone. "Where's Raven?" she asked.

"She went to plant a bomb at the bridge on her own. Finn and Jasper went after her," Monty answered. "It's almost first light and the Grounders are coming."

Jinny stepped forwards and waved for him to walk with her as she moved towards the wall. He explained the entire situation to her and what had happened when she was unconscious. Delaying the attack would increase their odds of survival but anything could go wrong. She contemplated on going after them but she didn't want to leave the camp undefended. Or Bellamy.
