"damn that's deep." josh murmured. i don't know why, but my paintings always seemed to make people think in one way or another. it kind of scares me sometimes, because when i don't tell them what it truly means, they get mad. i like for them to figure it out for themselves, then i tell them.
"josh, may i speak with you for a second?" tyler then, without hearing josh's response pulls him out of the room and shuts my door. there's a reason i left it open, ty. sigh.
*their conversation*
"that's it, josh!" tyler piped cheerily.
"what's 'it'?" i questioned, examining my wrist to see if his sudden yank would leave a mark.
"her painting! our album cover! it's what i imagined exactly!" tyler was beyond ecstatic.
"oh. um, okay. i'll ask her if we can use it. be right back." josh went back to ashlynn's room and walked in, pretending nothing happened. just seeing her, on her bed, throwing that baseball up and down over and over.
"there's a story behind the baseball, isn't there?" josh asked suddenly.
"sure is." she confirmed emotionlessly.
"do i have to earn it?" he was hoping the answer was no, but he highly doubted it.
"do you think you have to earn it?" she used the same monotonous voice as before and honestly, josh was kind of freaked out. this isn't like her.
"... no..." he said slowly, carefully.
"then you have to earn it." she never paused in throwing the ball.
"i'll get right on it. see you later, ash." josh suddenly gave her the nickname he'd been thinking of calling her for a while, and she seemed to smile a little bit.
"in a while crocodile." she replied snarkily.
"what'd she say?" tyler asked as soon as her door was shut once again. 'shit.' josh thought. 'i forgot that part.'
"she said yes!" josh lied. he couldn't let tyler down like that. maybe he'd just take it, have it copied, then put it back? yeah... that sounds about right.
"hey, guys?" ash asked from her room, assuming they were still there.
"yeah, ash?" josh called back.
"ash?" tyler chuckled at the nickname josh had given her.
"yes. it's a nickname, tyler." josh talked as if explaining to a toddler.
"do you guys want to be my next inspirations?" she called, the same tone evident.
"you wanna paint... us?" they both walked into her room slowly, assuming it was safe to do so. she was already stood at her blank canvas.
"yeah. you're inspiring to me. don't ask why; i don't want to inflate your egos too much. anyway, do you guys want to sit there doing the same pose or do you want me to take a picture and go off that?" she questioned, tearing her eyes from the blank canvas to us.
"we'll sit here." josh spoke up before tyler could.
"i'll get the masks!" tyler piped and bolted or josh's room. ashlynn didn't even raise an eyebrow.

after about 6 hours of straight up sitting and no breaks, we were finally done. josh and tyler had taken a few breaks to go pee or go eat or something, but once i started, i couldn't stop. they said they wanted something dark, so i gave them dark. they got them, sitting straight, ski masks the only thing visible on their face. their mouths and eyes were blacked out, and so was the room. aside from a small light hanging about what would be 2 inches from the ceiling. one more thing, there is a dark hand on tyler's shoulder. i felt that was deep enough. also, for an extra touch, if you were to shine a blacklight on it i used black light reactive paint to outline eyes.
"done!" i exclaimed, dropping my paintbrush to the floor. it was something i tended to do when i was finished, so i wouldn't go too overboard. it didn't hurt the wood, though, i had towels laid out.
"wanna see?" i looked up at them both to see that they were already up and running over to see.
"you did not just paint that!" josh said, his voice showing evident awe. his mouth was agape, along with tyler's
"it looks like a picture." tyler commented.
"this is awesome!" josh's face regained that smile that i adore, and he wrapped his arms around me. i wrapped my arms back around him, and we just stood there, hugging each other. it feels good to hug someone strong... riley never hugged like this.
"ahem." we jumped apart when we heard tyler clear his throat with a small chuckle following.
"i gotta get home to jenna. i'll see you at brendon's party tomorrow, right?" josh nodded in response to tyler.
\"by the way, do you wanna go with me to that party? i have a plus one." josh suggested, a light pink dusting his cheeks.
"uh yeah, sure. when is it?"
"tomorrow, starts at 6." he said, a small smile creeping onto his face.
"see you then." i confirmed.
"see you later, alligator."
"in a while, crocodile," i responded just before my door shut. i walked - more like stumbled over to my bed and collapsed onto my back, sprawled out like a starfish.

a/n: joshlynn?
* update * just to clear some things up, yes tyler accused her of being a fan at the beginning of the story. but, this was in about 2009, when their first album was released, and they did have a good amount of fans before they realeased an album. Josh had his drums pissed on, i don't doubt people have tried to stalk them after seeing them at a bar.
peace
