Since no one has asked me anything yet, I decided to ask myself something: the question seen in the title.
Yes, there are many other ways of getting down. Blaise already said one of them in Chapter 8, I believe. "You could have just teleported here, you know." Teleporting is one of the alternatives. You can also pull apart some of the cloud and float down on that.
Some legacies have flying abilities, so if you are friends with one of them you could just ask them for a ride. Though it might be awkward riding on their back.
You can also use portals similar to the ones in Chapter 9. More on that in a later chapter.
There are also watches used for navigating through the GameStream that have a feature to help you down. Again, more on those in the story later.
