《KATE POV》
My life has always been strange. From my white hair, to my swift speed, I have always been different. I am even different from my own family! My mom, dad and my brother, Kade, all have black hair but I have white hair. They all have blue eyes but I have green and brown eyes. I have never been similar to anyone until I met that boy at my friend's 12th birthday party.
As soon as I looked at him, I felt a connection. I mean, even our eyes were similar although he had black hair while I had white hair. I went up to him and said hi but all I got in response was a single word I didn't quite understand. Why would a complete stranger have their first words to me be, "mine"? I pushed his strange actions to the side and stuck my hand out expecting a hand shake.
"Hi, I'm Kate. What's your name?" My attempt of conversing with him finally succeeded.
"My name is Alec and I am now 12!" He replied cheerfully. Why the sudden mood change?
"Oh, are you Alexis's twin?" I asked. Now that I gave him a quick look, he even looked similar to Alexis. He must be her twin!
"Umm, not exactly. I am her triplet. We have another brother, Allen. In fact, he has just gone to get me a cup of lemonade. Would you like a cup?" Wait, Alexis is a triplet?
"That would be great, thanks." I replied, with a toothy grin.
"Okay, just wait a second, I won't be long." Then he just rushed off without saying bye.
I walked off, trying to find Alexis when I found her by the hot dog stand chatting to one of her friends while munching down on a hotdog, her favorite food.
"Hey, Alexis. Why didn't you tell me you were a triplet?" I asked, demanding an answer.
"Well you never asked." She replied simply. At this point her friend had walked off to join the crowd dancing in the middle.
"You are right with that. Is there anything else I need to know?" I asked. It would be best to know now, I guess.
"Oh, just a couple odd things but I will only answer yes or no questions now." Damn... She had to make it hard.
"Do you have any other brothers or sisters?" It was a start.
"No, although I have a lot of friends that I consider family."
"Okie dokie. Do you think you are rich?"
"Yeah, I am. Although I don't like spending money."
"Oh ok." I replied. We ended the conversation there and walked back towards the crowd together to play pass the parcel with all the other kids.
It was nearing the end of the party and Alec had once again found me and pulled me off to the side.
"Where were you? I came back and you weren't there." He said suddenly.
"Oh, I was talking to Alexis. Did you mind?"
"No, it is all right. At least I'm talking to you again." He replied in a low whisper while taking a small step closer.
"Ummm... yeah... that's... good." I managed to peep out.
"Yeah, it is." He took another step leaving a few inches between us.
"Aha." I agreed. Nervousness consumed my body. I have never been this close to a boy. Especially one this cute.
"You know what?"
"What?" I whispered.
"I think I like you, Kate." My name rolled perfectly off of his tongue. He went to stroke my cheek and immediately I felt fireworks. Am I sick? I haven't felt this way before, what's wrong with me.
"Is that so?"
"Yes. Yes it is." Suddenly he protracted his canines and bit my neck. I tried to scream but all I was frozen with shock. Black dots soon clouded my vision and I began to black out...
