Unexpected Love

Choosing Day

I stare at my reflection in the mirror, I see my green eyes filled with fear, as I'm biting my lip, I have light brown hair and a long nose, I could easily say I'm not the beautiful girl everyone would want. I don't care, I know the truth.
Anyways today is the big day. Today is the day I finally leave my parents and choose to be what I want to be in life. Today I turn 16. I will have to choose whether I want to be an artist - which is definitely not it since I don't have any talent - or whether i want to be a scientist - I don't I can barely understand science - I think that I am just bad at everything.. So I think I'll just join the army and hope on getting shot. Oh lord I think I'm too young for this.. but this is Red Town and life starts at 16. "Emily! You're going to be late for choosing whatever you want to do for living at the Red Town Public Office. So move it!" Shouts my mom from over the room. I look at my bed one more time before i go, I'm going to miss it. "I'm ready Mother!" I say as i get out of my room. "I will drive her there, Arthur. I know you have a lot of work to do she'll understand. Right?" Says my mom to my dad, i nod. "Fine, Laurence, take care of my beautiful daughter." replied my father. I kiss him goodbye and get in the car. My mom drives me to a huge red basement, we get out of the car and get to the reception, where sits a beautiful young lady, "What can I help you with?" Says the lady. "I'm here cause I turned 16 today" i say, "Oh I understand" she says "What did you choose to be?" She asks "I decided to join the army." I reply as i look into my mom's eyes filled with deception.. There's nothing wrong about joining the army, unless you do it because you don't have any other choice.. "Follow me." Says the lady, and i do, and so does my mom. She takes us to the fifth floor into room 2427 it's a very large room with a tough looking guy sitting on a desk, it has a whole wall with drawers i wonder what's in it. "She wants to join the army?" Asks the tough man, the lady nods and leave. The tough man asks for my ID then he seem to fill a file, asks some questions about my health and my life as he fills the file, after a few moments he's done. He asks my mom to leave so she starts crying while I hug her tight and kiss her cheek. "Don't worry young lady, we'll take you to the army basement where you'll have to train for 6 years before you have your post there. You'll be trained to fight and everything, you'll also have a dormitory to sleep and you'll be fed nice food. Until you turn 22 and have your post and a salary to get yourself a home and food!".
