My new partner arrived today. Olivia __. She's young, fresh from the academy. They probably think I can teach her something or some s***. But I will admit she's good. She's just as sharp as Joseph, maybe even a little more, and has an almost unnatural sense for things. The problem is she's naive and tends to act before she thinks.
Well, it did come in handy today when we were chasing a suspect. He was getting away and ducked behind a corner. I or Joseph would have lost him but Olivia vaulted over a brick wall and tackled him. Quite an impressive move, actually.
It was helpful but also incredibly dangerous and she did end up getting hurt. She dismissed my concern but it didn't change the fact I'll have to keel an eye on her. Still, as far as partners go she's not the worst.
She makes me feel... something. Something I haven't felt in a long time. Compassion, maybe? Or protectiveness. Either way, she reminds me of my daughter and I don't intend to let her get hurt.
