It took a lot of waiting around before you became conscious of my existence.

I would wait for you to pass my locker before I blended into our piers, eyes fixed on the back of your head.

I would wait for you to sit down at lunch, skillfully placing my tray at a bordering table.

I would wait for you to initiate a conversation with someone I knew, my hopes to casually drop in always overshadowed and eliminated by my own unease.

But then one day, I ran after a disappearing ride and right into you.

It's funny.

Everything began the moment I stopped waiting.

I still wish I could go back to those perpetually lingering moments.
