From Darkness Leading To Light

I was stuck in a tunnel with no source of light,
All I had was a cane in my sight,
With it I tapped the stones in front,
Lying on the path over which I might have to run.

All around me was black,
Forth as well as back,
Life was a mirror,
Of the darkness around me gathered.

All the strife and the strain,
Was gathered together in one place.
Oh I wanted to run so fast,
That I would outrun the haunting thoughts of my present, future and past.

But without any source of hope,
My sight just couldn't grope,
For the exit of that miserable place,
Damp, rocky and full of hatred.

And just when things were the most sad,
I found hope where there was none.
And things no longer felt so bad,
As against evil I started to stand.

And then I saw something shine,
At the end of the, now hollow, line.
I ran towards the now bright light.
As it burned away all of my fright.

As I neared it I realized it was my hope,
Multiplied a hundred times fold.
And yet more realization dawned,
As I recognized the tunnel for what it was.

All my sorrows having been clustered in one place,
Was naught but dear God's grace.
For now I was free to laugh out the rest of my days,
Without another sorrow to take.

That miserable tunnel whence there was no light
Was for me a sight for sore eyes.
For it had been improving my life.
And from Darkness leading it to Light
