Avery:

"Ava, hurry up otherwise you will be late to school!" I heard my mom shout although it was muffled by the pillow I had thrown over my face in an attempt to block out the early sunlight that shone through the bedroom window

I groan as I think about going back to sleep but decide against it because as annoying as school was I couldn't miss a day of it just because I was up late last night saving the world from any supervillain's crimes. Did I not mention that I was a superhero? No, well don't look at me it never came up in conversation...

Lazily, I managed to push myself out of my bed and up the stairs and into the kitchen where my mom was already up and making my younger sisters lunch for school and sat down at the breakfast bar before using my telekinetic powers to pour my out some water as toast was put down in front of me in the next passing seconds and I gobbled it up hungrily before going back downstairs to change for the day ahead

My room was the biggest room in the house as it originally was the basement that my parents had converted for me when my family had the surprise news that my mom was once again pregnant with my younger sister by eight years, Adelaide, and I walked over to my closet and began pulling out what I like to call my sloth jumper which is this big beige jumper that I put on when I can't be bothered getting dressed up for school and I paired the jumper with a pair of black leggings and brown ugg boots before twisting my hair up in a knot at the top of my head.

I brush my teeth in the little sink in the corner of my room and sigh before heading back up the stairs to see both my twin brother and little sister have risen from their dead to the world slumbers and when Cameron (my twin) sees me he gives me a little wave before pigging out on the food in front of him

"Bye mom, bye dad" I wave to the two who were also in the kitchen "I'm going to school!"

"Uggg why do you need to go to school so early" Cameron groans his mouth hanging wide open allowing the family to see his chewed up food "You're a nerd"

"I may be a nerd, but at least I have manners" I retort

Cameron was about to counter with one of his witty comebacks but mum rushed over to me scolding Cameron with her eyes and unimpressed mom face before pulling me into a hug "Don't forget your staying at Mrs Thundermans house until we get back from our cape mission" My mom told me and I nod, it was agreed a while back that I'd stay at my mom's friends house with her family until they came back from their mission and for whatever reason I was the only one in the family who wasn't going it was decided by the Hero League that that was the best option

"Yes, mom I know I'll see you before you go though?" I ask and she smiles nodding her head

 -----

I walk in the door after a long gruelling day of school for people like me -- teens who have superpowers and all I want to do is collapse on the sofa and turn Netflix on but that didn't happen because I walked into a madhouse

My brother was zipping up and down the stairs at superhuman speed packing last minute as always and even though we are twins we don't have the same powers as one another like my moms oldest friend Mrs Thundermans eldest twins have and we don't have 3 powers we only have 2 I have flying and telekinesis and Cameron  has teleportation and super speed

"Cameron Jaxson where the hell did you put my hair stuff," Our younger sister Adelaide half asks and half yells at him meanwhile her eyes go white as she shoots a burning hot laser in Cameron's direction which he narrowly avoids by teleporting a few feet away

"I don't know, geez Addy control your anger women!" Cameron yells at our furious sister which only made matters worse for him because before he had time to react he was hopping up and down on one foot at superhuman speed his voice shaking as he whined "Oww!"

"Next time, I will get you," Adelaide said her piercing green eyes narrowing into paper-thin slits before a cheery smile adorns her pretty little doll face one again and she walks away to go finish her packing

"You should know by now" I chuckle patting my twins back as I walk past him

In the next few minutes, my mother comes down the stairs a panic-stricken expression dawning her features "Frank have we got the passports?" She asks my dad as she started to pack extra weapons that we keep in the house in case of an attack

"Yes love we have, calm down" My dad replies with a slight smile

"I can't Frank this mission has to go perfectly" I could hear the fear in my mom's tone and eyes and something in my stomach turns, what is so special about this mission?

"And it will Grace, everything will be fine" My dad reassured my mother bringing her into chest before planting a chastise and a quick kiss on her lips

"I hope your right" My mom says with a quick shake of the head before she turns to me as if just registering my presence which once again had my stomach flipping with nerves because something about this whole thing has got my mother so shaken that she didn't even know I was in the room "Addy, Cameron say goodbye to your sister!" my mom shouted up the stairs

The goodbyes went by a blur I got a half-arsed hug and a peace sign from my sister and a bear hug from Cameron and soon it was time to say goodbye to my parents my dad gave me another bear hug and a kiss on the cheek and a promise to be safe which I made him return and my mother gave me another bone-crushing hug one that only mothers can achieve and a kiss on the other cheek "We'll be back in two weeks!" my mother promised before escaping out the door followed by everyone else

But a sinking feeling in my stomach told me I shouldn't have let them go...
