~Embarrassing Dodgeball Accidents~
(Kassidy's POV)
I'd been hearing all day that the freshman class, my grade, was going to be getting a new student. It just hadn't happened yet.
It was already 5th hour, and there had not been one sight of the new kid. I wasn't even sure if it was a girl or boy.
There I sat next to two people in my class on the bleachers in the gym, waiting for the rest of my class to come out of the locker rooms.
"Have you seen the new kid yet?" I heard someone behind me ask. I turned around, interested to see if anyone HAD seen him or her.
"No, they haven't come yet. I heard they'll be here either this hour or the next hour though. Hehe what if it's a cute boy?"
The two girls behind me giggled. I mean, I'm not much for just caring about looks, but it would be nice to have at least one attractive male in my class.
I glanced over at the locker rooms, seeing the rest of the class finally come out and sit on the bleachers with the rest of us.
"Okay class, this week in gym we will be playing dodgeball, so line up on the black line so I can't determine the teams," Mr. Brooks, our gym teacher, said.
We all got up and lined up along the black line on the side of the gym. There were about 30 of us in my class, so Mr. Brooks counted us off evenly.
As he walked by me and pointed at me, he said, "2." I nodded my head and walked over to the other side of the gym where the rest of my team was.
A girl from my class brought out the dodgeballs and lined them up on the half line as we all waited for the teacher to blow the whistle, signalling us to run for the balls.
He pressed his mouth against the whistle and blew very loudly, the sound echoing through my ears as everyone sprinted across the gym.
Being me, I kind of waded back behind everyone else because usually the first people to get up there get hit first.
I stood behind other people in my grade, trying my hardest to not get hit by the fast flying balls.
I heard the gym doors open so I turned my head towards the tall boy walking into the gym.
He had dark brown, almost black wavy hair, a thin, but slightly muscular figure, and he wore these black skinny jeans with a kind of formal button up shirt.
I couldn't quite see his face yet, but I saw him walk up to Mr. Brooks and hand him a small piece of paper.
I couldn't take my eyes off of him for some reason. As he turned and headed towards the boy's locker room, I saw him turn his glance directly towards me.
A small smirk formed on his face and then BAM!!! I fell to the floor just as a big ball had smacked me in the side of the face.
I lied there on the floor and took one last look towards him, seeing him chuckling as he looked down at the floor.
Okay... if I'm 100% honest, he was probably the most gorgeous guy I had ever laid my eyes on. Wait... what if he's the new student?!
Oh my gosh... I totally just embarrassed myself in front of the new guy... UGH! That's so typical coming from me...
I got up and grabbed a ball, throwing it to the other side of the room in hopes that I would hit someone.
"OUT!" I heard someone yell. Great. I walked over to the bleachers and sat down with the others who got out.
I sat there, watching the game as the guy walked out of the locker room in black basketball shorts and a white shirt.
He walked right past me, and in that moment I thought I was literally going to die just by the smell of his amazing cologne.
The smell filled my nose for a few seconds just as he walked by. Once it left, I felt like a part of me was gone. What's with me today?
(Brendon's POV)
I left the locker room and walked towards the gym teacher. I walked past a few people as I did so.
"What team should I be on?" I asked the teacher and he looked at me then at the teams on the gym floor.
"Uhhhh.... you can be over there..." he pointed to the other side of the gym. I nodded my head and ran towards my team.
Quite a few people stared at me and smiled, some waving at me nicely. Others, mainly girls, just stared at me like something amazing just happened.
I smiled at them. Some of the guys were pretty nice looking, but others just kind of had one of those 'I'm going to kill you and your family in your sleep' looks.
I tried hard to just fit in with the others by picking up a ball and throwing it to the other side.
One fact about me is I'm absolutely terrible at sports. I've tried basketball, baseball, and hockey. None of them are for me.
The ball I threw got caught by a guy from the other team. "You're out faggot!" I heard the boy yell.
Well, that was very "nice" of him to say. I walked over to the bleachers and sat by the girl who fell as I walked into the room.
She looked at me with a shocked look and I smiled, holding my hand out towards her. She looked down at it for a moment then shook it very gently. "Hi, I'm Brendon." I smiled.
