Arey D. Faye is a native to the Faye Port, aka the Island of the Fairies, located in the East Blue. The island is very tiny and not very known, which helps keep the natives a secret from the rest of the world. See, what's so special about this island that has to be kept a low-profile is that just as the name of the island suggests, the natives are fairies, humans with glossy, transparent wings that gives the ability of flight. Throughout the world, the Island of the Fairies has only been a fairy tale, but in reality, it really does exist. Arey is a native of the island which makes her a fairy, but not only that, she's of royal blood.

The royal family of Faye Port are rumored to have exceptional abilities along with their flight. It is said that they use Fairy Magic, an ancient practice of the first fairies. This magic was special to only the royal family, who were of true native blood, also known as the Keeper of the Fairies. No one knows for certain what the Fairy Magic is capable of, but rumors are strong in that category.

Kora D. Faye is the queen of Faye Port. Although she is rumored to have the Fairy Magic, that's not true. Even though she is the queen and of native blood, she does not possess the Fairy Magic. On the other hand, her niece, who is the princess (Kora never had any children), does indeed have the Fairy Magic; Arey D. Faye is her name.

When Arey's mother, Mara D. Faye passed away, Arey inherited her mother's special ability of Fairy Magic. Jealous of her sister's possession, Kora took it upon herself to harbor the Fairy Magic user deep within her grasp, hiding away Arey from the world.

It wasn't until Arey discovered one of her hidden abilities that came from Fairy Magic, Size Manipulation. Arey could change from being her normal height to the size of an adult male's pinkie.
Finding this ability, she used it to sneak out of the palace and explore the island, did she come across the notorious Red-Haired Pirates and their captain, Red-Haired Shanks.

Being the curious-adventurous type, Arey struck gold with the Red-Haired Pirates and was welcomed aboard their ship. Her dream was to learn from the pirates and see the world.

She sailed with them for 2 years, before landing on Dawn Island.

On Dawn Island, the Red-Haired Pirates docked in a village called Foosha.

Being very attached to the captain, Arey clung to Shanks like a security blanket, never leaving his side. But after awhile, she became close to a certain bartender at the Partys Bar of the name, Makino, a dear friend of Red-Haired Shanks.

Arey became very close to her, seeing how Makino acted like a motherly-figure around the curious adventurer.

It was a week after arriving in Foosha Village and meeting Makino, was Arey introduced to a young boy of the same age, Monkey D. Luffy.

Before long, Luffy was clinging to Shanks like she had been doing, which put the two 7-year olds of opposing sides. The black-haired boy with the bottomless stomach wasn't as keen as the pirate-raised fairy, but he had a mouth like you'd ever seen one! All day the two would fight over who Shanks would prefer to have around with him on his pirate adventures.

One day, Luffy and Arey were having one of their daily arguments along with a few blows to the face or body,  Arey exposed herself has a fairy in front of Luffy, who toppled backwards in awe. Flustered by their disagreement, Arey flew off towards the forest. Amazed by his rival's sudden ability, he chased after her, calling for her to come back. When Arey stopped and waited for Luffy to catch up, she was flattered by his amazement and interest in her wings. Both were glued in to the fact that Arey was different, which sparked their friendship.

As time moved on, Luffy and Arey became very close. That's when Vice Admiral Garp of the Marines started heading for Foosha Village. It was said that Garp was coming to take Luffy to a place without pirates. When the news spread to the Red-Haired Pirates, it was decided that it was best to leave Dawn Island. The pirates packed their things including Arey and set back out to see before Garp could catch them.
The last time Arey saw Luffy was on a mountain cliff, waving farewell to her and the crew. Shanks' strawhat was left behind with Luffy, and his left arm fishes at the bottom of the ocean on the cost of Dawn Island, where Shanks saved Luffy from a bandit.

It wasn't long after leaving Dawn Island when Shanks dropped Arey off at her home island and took off in the middle of the night. Since that day, Arey has been imprisoned in the palace with her aunt. Every now and then, Arey looked out her bedroom window at the East Blue, awaiting the Red-Haired Flag to be dancing on the horizon; Shanks coming to pick her up.

It's been 10 years since that day....
