AWKWARD

"Your dorm room is numbered 27" The receptionist held out a small silver key in my direction.
I accepted the key and fiddled around with it whilst making my way to the room.

'University huh?' I thought to myself as I reached my destination.
I ended up getting my own room which was a massive relief. I couldn't stand the thought of sharing a room with a complete stranger, not because I didn't like people but because I was shy beyond words.
I wasn't even sure how I was going to make friends. I didn't mind not making any, but it would be nice.

I inserted the key into the lock and slowly opened the door. It made a light creaking sound, which was displeasing.
As I made my way into the room, I plopped my bag onto the bed.

The room was actually quite large, not what I had expected at all.
A desk was placed in the far left corner, I unpacked some of my things and placed them onto it.
It looked alot less dull once I had finished.

Just as I was about to do some more unpacking I heard the door click.
A boy with bright orange hair had burst into my room with a large grin plastered onto his face.

"Nice to meet you my names Jung Hoseok, but you can just call me Hobi."

I was honestly quite shocked at the sudden intrusion and didn't know what to say.

'Shit just say something' I thought to myself as anxious thoughts filled my mind.

Finally i spat out "Kim Seokjin, pleasure to meet you."

I quietly let out a sigh of relief. 'That was awkward' I thought.

Hoseok seemed to completely ignore it.

"I'm guessing you're a freshman too?" He asked.

"Yeah, I only just got here today."

"I know, that's why I thought i'd come and pay a visit." He shot me a bright smile.

"Thank you I appreciate the kind thought" I answered back blushing ever so slightly. I wasn't used to people being considerate towards me.

"No big deal." He gave me a thumbs up. "Well it was nice talking to you, take care Seokjin!" And with that he slammed the door shut.

'Peace at last' I thought.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was seven in the evening when I'd finally finished unpacking all of my belongings.

I let out a long sigh. I looked over at the mini freezer, furrowing my eyebrows together.

'I need to get food or i'll starve' I thought to myself as I slowly got up and made my way to my desk. Grabbing my wallet I made way to the door.

It was raining so I grabbed my jacket too, feeling its softness on my fingers as I put it on.

Smelt like home.

I smiled to myself and made way for the exit.

The sun hadn't set yet and it wasn't particularly pouring down with rain so it ended up being a pleasant stroll.

I spotted a small convenience store and headed in its direction. Stepping inside I made my way through the aisles and picked up food that caught my fancy. Once my hands were full I made my way to the cashier.

Whilst paying I noticed a boy my age staring at a cigarette rack.

I scoffed ever so slightly.

'Why would you waste money on that shit.' I shook my head.

After paying for my things, which seemed like forever, I started making my way back to my dorm.

Taking in the fresh air I smiled to myself. I hadn't had this much freedom in so long. It felt somewhat comforting.

Halfway through my journey I decided i'd sit down on a nearby bench to get a good look at my surroundings. The university owned alot of land and there was alot of greenery, so it was pleasant to look at.

Whilst dazing I heard a faint 'hey' in the distance. I brushed it off thinking it was just my imagination.

Then it happened again. I averted my eyes to the direction of the sound. The boy from the store was walking up to me.

Suddenly my heart began to race uncontrollably.

'Fuck what if he heard me scoff, is he going to confront me about it, will I-'

"Here you dropped this." My thoughts were cut off as he handed me my wallet.

I blushed. 'You fool' I thought to myself as I slowly took the wallet from him.

"Thank you." I mumbled not daring to make eye contact.

It was silent for a moment, he hadn't left yet. I slowly looked up and we made eye contact. His eyes were sparkling.

"Kim namjoon nice to meet you." He shot me a pleasent smile which revealed his dimples.

I averted my eyes away from him. "Kim Seokjin, My pleasure."

Suddenly he let out a faint chuckle.

'Whats so funny?' I wondered.

We made eye contact once more.

"By the way, I didn't know scoffing could sound so cute coming from a man as tall as you."

I felt my heart sink into my stomach.

He had heard me.

He shot me a smile one last time before facing away from me.

"See you round' Seokjin."

And with that he left.
