Lexa sighed happily as she sent her last email of the day and leaned back heavily in her plush desk chair. The day had been long and chaotic, with plenty of meetings and conference calls to attend to with companies and employees that just didn't seem to understand what she was trying to do with her new project, and all she really wanted to do was go home to her lush apartment and curl up on the sofa with a cup of tea and watch a nice, calming documentary about the creatures of the ocean.

Maybe she would call her girlfriend and pick her up from campus on the way home so they could spend the evening together. Clarke didn't have class until noon tomorrow so she could spend the night without worrying about waking up early. The thought put a small smile on her face as she continued to think of the incredible woman she was fortunate enough to call her girlfriend.

She and Clarke had met almost eight months ago now, in the local coffee shop by Polis University where the blonde worked part-time. Lexa was entranced right away by her beauty. She had long blonde hair that curled slightly at the ends and curves that went for miles that she wasn't afraid to show off. What really got Lexa's attention, though, was Clarke's eyes. Eyes so blue it was like watching the sky stare back.

They hit it off quickly due to Lexa deciding the place was her new favorite coffee shop and showing up a few times throughout the week, and they exchanged numbers. They had talked, either in person or by phone, almost every day for two weeks before Lexa had had enough courage and asked Clarke out on a date. She, of course, had said yes and now, all these months later, Lexa could say that she was the happiest she had been in a very long time.

Clarke was working towards her degree in fine arts at Polis. She'd taken a year off after high school due to the passing of her father and realized that art was her true passion in life. When she decided she didn't want to follow her mother's notable footsteps in the medical field, however, her mom had left her to pay her own way through college and all but disowned her. Clarke had once told Lexa that she wasn't upset with her mom, she knew her art reminded Abby too much of her dad.

Lexa knew how hard the blonde was trying to make things work, and knew that she would make it in the industry someday. The things her girlfriend could do with a paintbrush or some charcoal continued to astound Lexa each time she caught a glimpse of a new piece. There was no denying the girl's talent, that was for sure.

"Goodnight, Miss Woods, don't stay too late tonight," Her assistant called as she passed by the open office doors, pulling Lexa from her thoughts behind her desk.

She smiled politely and called back, "Have a nice night, Niylah. I'll see you tomorrow morning."

After checking over her last few files one last time to make sure every document was in its proper place and setting aside her notes for her first meeting tomorrow, Lexa stood and gathered her things, rolling her sleeves up to her elbows and leaving her suit jacket off, draping it over her arm as she picked up her laptop bag. She was officially the last person in the building, which happened more often than not and so she made sure all the lights were out around the offices before she headed into the elevator.

She was just beginning her descent from the top floor when her phone began to vibrate in her pocket. She pulled it out quickly, smiling lovingly at the name flashing on the screen, and answered quickly.

"Hey, baby girl, I was just going to call you and-"

"Lex?" A small whimper interrupted her.

Everything she's been planning to say disappeared when she heard the distress in her girlfriend's voice.
