"904," I thought as I opened my tiny locker. I shoved my bag in and slammed it shut. The bang made the small girl next to me jump.

"Sorry," I mumbled under my breath. She just smiled like she was forced to in a family picture. I wandered off to try to find the principals office. I already hate everything about Florida. The weather was literally hotter than the hottest boy in school. Although, the boys here look like they haven't even hit puberty yet.

" Where is the principals office?" I asked a boy walking past me. He just slammed his shoulder into me and shoved me out of his way. I was just about to ask another girl walking past me, where the principal's office was, when I saw the door with the big bold letters 'Principal Brown'. I pushed it open and stood in the front of the room, giving it a death stare. It was a big wooden room with school awards all over the wall. There was a wood desk with a man, maybe in his mid 60s, sitting at the front.

"Sydney Anderson?" His voice as deep as the water in the ocean.

"Yes, that is me."

"Take a seat, please."

I sat in a skinny wood chair across him.

"This is your first day, correct?"

I nodded, and pretended I saw something interesting outside of the window, where some people are stretching.

"Here is your schedule," He said handing me a schedule. "I will write you a note explaining why you are late for you first period class. Which is," He eyed the schedule. "PE, Ms. James, right outside." Oh great. Just great. Just what I need to start of my reputation. Everyone to see me panting, gasping, and asking to go to the bathroom and sit there for the rest of first block. He scribbled something down on a spot it note and gave it to me.

"Off you go." He said. I grabbed the note and my schedule and went straight outside. I made my way through lunging people and gave the note to Ms. James. She blew her whistle and everyone froze.

"We have a new student. Sydney." She announced.

I nervously tucked a loose hair behind my ear. She gave me my new PE uniform.

"Sorry, Sydney the changing rooms are closed now because you are late. Of course it is not you fault but... Just use the bathrooms. I have my timer set for 5 minutes. If you are late AGAIN, there will be some issues. Your time starts, now. "

"Hey honey." Mom greeted me as I came home. "How was the first day?"

"Fine, I guess." I said and slammed my door behind me. I'm still holding a grudge at her. She has put me in a crappy state, crappy school, she has just taken me away from my friends. Taken me away from life.

Maybe I should get a job. I would spend a more limited amount of time with her, in this crap hole.

***

I walked along the road trying to find a 'Jobs Wanted' sign. I was about to give up when I saw a cute cafe with a 'Jobs Wanted' plastered across its window. I opened the door, and marched up to the worker.

"Hi, I'm here to apply for a job." He sighed an pointed to a wooden door. I opened it slowly and found myself in a dusty room, with a young looking lady on a computer

"Here for a job?" She asks without looking up from her screen.

"Um yeah," I said.

"You got it," She grumbles.

"What? But I have only just applied you haven't even asked me anything!"

She shrugs and hands me an apron. "You start tomorrow. All I need is your phone number. Just write it here." I quickly scribbled it down and thanked her.

***

"Hi what can I get you?" I asked a woman with three children.

"3 red velvet cupcakes and a coffee. Do you sell alcoholic drinks? These kids are annoying as hell." She whispers in my ear.

"Um, no but sorry m'am." I say and put three cupcakes on the counter. "Five pounds please."

She gives me a five pound note and yells and her kids. I sit at my desk waiting for the next customer. I heard the door squeak ten minutes later. A man wearing a grey leather jacket and black sunglasses. His jeans were sagging a little with a chain across them. His black hair was thick and tousled. He whipped off his sunglasses realign his icy blue eyes. I struggled for words.

"Hi." I managed to get out. He was the hottest man I had ever seen. AND this was Florida.

"Just an expresso please." His smooth deep voice echoed in my brain. I smiled at him.

"Just a sec." I said. I casually walked away. I hid in a corner and checked my hair using my phone camera. I added a bit more lipstick and walked back to the counter.

"I am sorry I just had to check with my manager." I lied. I gave him the coffee.

"Two pounds please." I said. Just then a girl, order than him, came running in.

" JASON!" She shrieked. He quickly turned around.

"The paparazzi want you! They want to know about Jessica!" She gasped for breath.

" Oh shit!" He exclaimed,"Do they know where I am?" She shook her head hard.

"You are safe. For now," she said.

Then it hit me. I talked to Jason Brady. The best singer of all time. Oh my God. He gave me the two pounds.

"Is it okay if we sit down for a while, so the paparazzi can't find me?" He asked and looked straight into my eyes . I nodded very strongly. He chuckled and sat down.

"Who's that?" The girl asks him grinning.

"I don't know, Lily."

"You don't chuckle with anyone else like that!" Lily said giggling.

I blushed and pretended to reorganise the cupcakes on display.

"Whatever." He snapped at Lily.

"Oh, come on Jason! She could help you get over Jessica!" she purred quietly.

"I AM over Jessica!" he growled. Lily gave him a knowing look.

He sighed and growled again. She smiled happily knowing she has won. I almost had a heart attack when he started to walk towards me.

"Hey." He said.

"Hi, do you need anything?" I pretended to act like I didn't hear their whole conversation.

"Um, yeah I do. I was wondering if you would like to go to dinner sometime?"

"Yeah, sure!" I said. The butterflies in my stomach were eating my insides.

"Great I will meet you here at 7 tonight. "

"Wait, today?" I asked. He nodded and then they left the cafe.
