"Sydney it's time to wake up! It's your first day at your new school!" My mum yells as I wake from my deep slumber. "I'm up mum!" I yell back as I walk to my washroom. I've been living here in America for three days and I already have to start school. I've been dreading this since I left England. it will be so awkward since it's nearly Christmas here.

I finish my shower and my thoughts as I walk to my dresser. I pull out a short sleeved grey crop top, with a blue flannel and black high waisted skinny jeans. I straighten my chocolate brown locks and put on a light layer of foundation, accompanied by filling in my light eyebrows and eyeliner. As I put on my final layer of mascara, my mum calls me down for breakfast.

I rush down the stairs, with only having 15 minutes before I go to school. I scarf down my breakfast so I have time to talk to my mum before I start walking. "I know your skateboard got lost in the move, so I went out yesterday and bought you a new longboard!" She said pulling it over the counter. It had a blue wave center with jelly blue wheels and a black outline. "Oh my gosh mum! Thank you thank you thank you!" I yell as I hug her.

I run to the bathroom and brush my teeth, put on my hat and grab my new bag and new board. "Goodbye mum!" I yell as I walk out of my house. I skate to school, using the gps on my new phone.

As I arrive at the school, I am instantly served many mean looks from girls and gawks from guys. I walk to where my locker is, I see a built, tan boy with thick dark brown hair and beautiful chocolate eyes leaning against it.

"Excuse me sir, I think that is my locker," I say politely. "Oh yeah, the fuck you gonna do about it?" He says as his friends laugh. "Sir, I'm just trying to get to my lock-" I say but I am cut off. "Woah woah woah, is that a British accent I hear?" The mean boy asks. "Yes it is, why do you care anyways? It's not like a dimwit like you would have anything to say about it, your brain the size of a pea can't think of any smart remark," I say with a smirk. "Whatever. I'm leaving" he says walking off with a girl under each arm. "Dim witted prick!" I yell as he continues walking

"Did you just- but he's- wow" a small blonde says to me. "That was cool, but you should really not have said that. He's the most popular boy in school. Fits in anywhere really. Captain of The football team, plays the guitar, sings, plays soccer, is a math genius, I honestly wouldn't have done that," she says as I finish at my locker "I've been through way worse, trust me I can handle some stupid boy. Whatever he's done that makes him so 'scary', I can deal with. You can bet your arse on that." I say walking to the admins office.

Wrong way," she shouts as I'm half way down the hall. I turn around and walk back to her. "This proves nothing." I say and walk the correct way to the admins office.

I walk into first block and see the arse from earlier. I instantly want to smack myself in the face. "You must be Sydney Winters. I'm mr. Baldwin, and welcome to U.S. history!" He says cheerfully. He's more bald than I expected, also more chubby than I thought he would be.

"So Sydney tell us something about yourself," he continues. "Well, I just moved here from London a mere 3 days ago, i play guitar, and I guess that's all that's interesting in the world of Sydney winters," I say to the class.

"Well Mrs winters it seems the only open seat is in front of Mr. Hood. Calum, raise your hand so Sydney knows where to sit," he says. The boy from earlier raises his hand, and I instantly regret coming to school today. The seat is surrounded by people in black ripped skinny jeans and leather jackets.

"Ok class for the end of the term project, we're going to pick partners so you won't have to suffer alone. We will go in alphabet order until everyone is picked," he explains. "Jalen A. Your first," he says.

After a few groups go, It's Calum's turn. "Calum, your turn to pick a partner." "Her," he says poking my back. I whisper profanities to him, as I start regretting moving more than I had before. The rest of the class is happy about their partners, as most of them chose friends.

Mr. Baldwin explained that the project was to pick any country that we have learned about this year and make a presentation, as we live there, to convince our classmates to want to move to our country. But, we also have to list cons of moving, as in driving matters, language barriers, and things like that. I turn to Calum as he finishes his speech. "I think if we do England we can get this done sooner so we don't have to spend more time together than usual," I say.

"Mr. Hood, Mrs. Winters, would you come here for a minute?" As Calum and I walk up to mr. Baldwins desk, he explains that if we choose England, we would have to choose a city, and not one that was close to where I lived. We also were rewarded an extension of three days since I was new. "We don't need the extension sir, i believe Calum and I can do it in the desired time given to the rest of class but thank you for your generous offer. I say politely, stunning Calum by my "big words" as he says.

"Is there anything else Mr. Baldwin?" Calum asks sounding annoyed. "That will be all," Mr. Baldwin says as he smiles at us and sits back down in his chair. We walk back to our seats, Calum being mad at me. "What the hell was that for?! Saying we don't need the extension, are you fucking dumb?" He whisper yells at me. "Yes, but that's besides the point. I know so much about a lot of the cities in England, this will be easy. I'll get it done by tomorrow and just slap your name on it," I say as the bell rings.

"No. I'm helping," he demands. "Why? Last I checked you didn't like me, or school work for that matter," I say shocked. "I want to prove you wrong, and if I didn't like you it wasn't intrigued by you, I wouldn't have picked you to be my partner," he says as we walk into the same science class.

"Wait hold the fuck up," I say silently as I enter the room. "Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that the same group of students you have for history is the same group you have for science? Whoops, guess I forgot," he chuckles, going back to his friends. As I walk up to the teacher and tell her I'm new, she nods her head and tells me her name and how the class can be a lot to handle at times but are a pretty nice bunch.

The bell rings and she starts talking to the class. "Ok class, as we have a new student and we have already had her introduction in Mr. Baldwins class, we are going to introduce the rules and proper classroom etiquette. Seeing as you all could use a refresher on the rules," she says as she motions for me to sit down.

I scan the room and see that Calum made the friend he was sitting next to move, so there was an open seat. I decide to sit there because once again, it was one of the only seats available and he was the only person I knew.

The girls in the hallway that were under his arms glared at me from across the room, but I didn't care.

Calum leaned over to whisper something in my ear, the close proximity giving me goosebumps. "Unlock your phone so I can put my number in," he says, as he takes my phone from my grasp. He puts his number in and texts himself from my phone, than takes his out and we text for the rest of class.

As the rest of the day moves on, I make three friends. Olivia, Adrienne, and Megan. They all remind me of my different personalities. Adrienne was full of drama and was boy crazy, Megan was calm and layed back, but with a crazy sense of humor. And Olivia was both of them combined, if you added social media to the mix. It felt nice to know that I had some friends here, even if I just met them.
