It was a chilly winter's day in Scotland, the sharp, raw wind was surrounding the the Amisdon Palace. Fires were lit but it was still icey inside. The maids were stressed, and the palace was rambunctious. 15 year old Princess Ivy was in her room with a cup of hot coco covering herself in layers and layers of blankets. Unlike all the other rooms in the palace her room was perfectly heated. But she still felt the need to cover herself in blankets. Prince Cameron was on a trip to Africa and Ivy was worried sick about him. She was talking to herself loudly, pretending that she as talking to Cameron, when the nicest maid 'Emma' walk in her room.
"Are you ok?", She asked in a worried tone.
"I'm fine why do you ask?", Ivy responded.
"No reason.", Emma said way to quickly. Right after that Emma silently left the room. Ivy wondered what all of that was about but got back to drinking her coco. She was wondering what to do when she saw her favorite childhood book. She went to grab it when she saw a little diary the had the name Beatrix engraved on the hard metal cover (Beatrix was her grandmother name). The was a gold lock on it that looked as old as time. It was rusty but when she tried to break the lock it wouldn't budge open. After about an hour trying her absolute most to open it she gave up for the night.

Ivy went to get her supper, but as soon as she made her way out of her room Emma her shooed back.
"Go go go.", Emma said stubbornly.
"Ok ok.", Ivy said to Emma.
This was the second time that night that Emma had acted weird like that. This was unusual behavior for her as she took her job very seriously. Ivy decided just to go to bed and figure it out in the morning.

Ivy woke up at the crack of dawn so that Emma wouldn't stop her from walking around her own home. She raced out of her room to the dining hall to find a coffin, it was being guarded by an unconscious elderly man. She quietly snuck around the room hoping not to wake the guard. Silently making her way over to the coffin she tripped and let out a soft yelp but it wasn't enough to wake the guard, or was it. He started to moan, Ivy quickly ran over and put a big piece of cake in his mouth (after living in a palace for so long that was very echoey she knew how to keep the guards asleep to sneak around). It was silent again 'lucky'. Ivy was now crawling to the coffin. She opened the heavy lid of the coffin to find her great grandmother 'Queen Beatrix's' dead body. It was lifeless and just lying there. Beatrix almost fainted in shock, but she kept her balance. She dropped the lid and ran to her room crying. She wondered why no one had told her about it. The she remembered Emma's strange behaviour. She understood that they didn't want her to know, but seriously she was the Queen, as if she would just disappear out of nowhere, plus Ivy was bound to find out anyway.

She found herself awake at the foot of her bed. She look at the clock to find out it was 10:30 which was late for her as she was normally an early riser. She remember what she had seen yesterday and started getting teary. There was a sudden knock on her door.
"Hello, may I come in?", asked a familiar voice. It was her mother ' Lucinda'.
"Um ok.", Ivy said trying to sound  strong.
Lucinda came in and saw her daughter sobbing on her bed.
"I'm so sorry. I know you were very close to her and I know it hurts, but we'll get through this together.", Lucinda said reassuringly.
"When did it happen?", Ivy sobbed.
"At lunchtime yesterday.", Lucinda answered her daughter.
"She died of old age, she wasn't in any pain." , Lucinda said.
Ivy excused herself and left to cry in her bathroom.

Three hours later Ivy came out of her bath room. She didn't feel like any food, so she just decided to got to bed. As she walked over to her bed she saw a glowing light. It as coming from the dairy she had tried to open the other day.
Ivy got some pliers out of her toolbox and tried calling to snap the lock but the pliers didn't even leave a dent. She tried again but it didn't work. The only thing she could do now was find the key. It could be anywhere, she didn't think she'd be able to find it quickly. Ivy's curiosity was building up and she was about to burst.

She woke up at 4:30 ready to find the key. But first she had to think of what her grandmother loved the most. She got out her notepad and quickly wrote down 'her sofa chair and her jewelry box it was all she could think of at that moment so she decided to take a look at those things first. She ran to the family room. She saw her grandmother's chair and sprinted to it. Ivy wondered if the key was in there then how was she to get it out? She pulled of all the cushions and found nothing. Just then she thought of a great to find the key, that was really quick. Her family loved going to the beach and Ivy loved to find things in the sand. Her metal detector would work perfectly. She walked to her bedroom she was tired from all the running she had done earlier on. She found it under her bed she now ran to the chair. The metal detector was already on so Ivy waved it all over the chair trying to pick up anything, but she got nothing. She walked into her grandmother's room to find a huge box that was covered in rubies, emeralds, amethysts and pearls. It was very expensive but that was her grandmother. She open the heavy lid of the box to find millions of necklaces beaded with jewels and gemstones, there was an overpowering brightness from box. Ivy quickly went through all the jewelry but found nothing that looked like a key.

Ivy made her way into the dining room, the sat down at the table. One of her three dogs came running to her. She was patting him saying.
"I can't think. I can't think." she said to the dog.
Just as she was patting the dog and ruffling his collar she felt something key shaped on his collar. Ivy looked down and saw it. Of course the dog.
"I alway loved you better than the other dogs. Wait which one are you?", she asked genuinely. Ivy ran to her room. She pick up the book and unlocked it.

She was reading it for the next few weeks to find out that her grandmother was acallty a murderer. She had been planning for the last two years her father. As she was reading it she would ballout crying. A year later she had enough , life was hard like this, she didn't want live life like this, knowing that her grandmother plan to and had murdered people. She just wanted to die, she planned to overload on medication. It was the day, she got out her medication and took all the tablets. She fell to the ground immediately. She was dead. Her curiosity lead her to death. So unlike most stories having a happy ending this one ended in a dark, said way, and we'll just say that thing went down hill for the royal family after Ivy died.
