Chapter 4 (Christmas)

"Bella! It's Christmas!" Carter said jumping on my bed. It's only 5:35am I don't feel like getting up. I rolled over to my side and he starting poking my side and I laugh.

"Okay okay" I laugh as I get up out of bed and he smiles wide walking to the living room and I follow behind me.

"Can I open now?" He smiles wide and I nod smiling back. He grabs the big box and rips the wrapping paper off and he smiles.

"I got the race car track!" He gasp and I handed him a smaller box.

"Open this." He nods not wasting no time and rips it open noticing a box of 12 cars and hugs me tight smiling.

"Thank you Bella" he smiled.

"Your welcome." I smile as he gave me a tight hug and I hug him back twice as tight, but not so tight that he couldn't breath. As we pull apart he looks down then looks back up at me.

"Mum not coming back is she?" He looks out the door and back me. I knew he would knew and ask that sooner or later I was just hoping later.

"I don't think so." I sign and rub his back. He look down at his toys I open my arms for him to come into a hug and he does, I wrap my arm around him tight and kiss his cheek as he sits on my lap.

"Okay, this is for James, this is for Alex, this one is for Austin, this one is for Joey, and this one is for Aly" Mrs and Mr Chancellor was handing out gifts to each kids and they all say thank you as she gives their present to them. Each one had about four presents each, I wish I could give Carter that many.

"Carter, this is for you." She smiled at him handing him a two boxes.

"Thank you." He smiled and opens it. They got him new Spider-Man pajamas and new shoes. Which was good because he needed some new ones. He smiled wide so I knew he love his gift.

"And these are for you." Mrs. Chancellor said handing me a box, it was a small rectangular box.

"You guys didn't have to get me anything." I said.

"We wanted to so open it!" Tracy said smiling at me and then looks at grant and James smiling wide.

I nodded as I open up the box, my mouth drop open. It was an iPad.

"You guys didn't have to get me anything and specially something like this!" I said.

"Oh honey don't worry about it." She smiles and I sigh and decide not to argue. I handed Tracy and Grant their gifts then handed James his.

"I really didn't know what to get guys." I said.

"It's fine, we told you you didn't have to get anything for us." James said and I smiled.

"I had to."

"Well we love it!" Tracy said an gives me a hug, then Grant gives me a hug and James does after Grant.

"Did you have fun buddy?" I ask smiling at him as I hand him a glass of eggnog and plate of turkey that Tracy gave us. I then grab my plate of turkey and sat down.

"I did, did you?" He smiles eating his turkey and I nod.

"I did."

"This turkey good!" I smiled softly and laugh.

"So you ready for school next Monday?" I asked him and he shrugs then nods.

"I guess. I don't know.. I rather stay home wit-" Carter was interrupted by a knock on the door.

I got up from my chair and look out the peep hole of the door seeing a police officer. I take a deep breath in and let it out and opens the door.

"Hello officer." I said. He gives me a nods and smiles.

"Hello young lady, we got a report of two kids staying here alone with no guardian?" He asked.
