Lainey sat in her spinning desk chair at her computer. She had a checklist written and a map with pins up on her wall. California. London. Canada. Australia. Ohio. They all had one or more pins in them. She had permission, and would be traveling with accompaniment of her two best friends. Her honorary sister Julie and her bird Meep. Both equally important. She had gone to the pharmacy and gotten enough medication for the three months she would be away. She called Julie. Her car pulled up and Lainey loaded her bags into the trunk of the minivan. She sat Meep down in his portable birdcage on her lap and they drove to the airport.
