As the wind blew Kay's mouse brown hair, she imagined being able to fly. She imagined being able to fly away from the person trying to kill her. Imagined being able to fly away from the gun that was pressed to the back of her head. However, as hard as she imagined being able to fly away, it was impossible.
Even though she couldn't sprout wings and fly away, Kay wasn't about to go down without a fight. She tried desperately to get out of the man's grip by jerking around. The harder Kay tried to escape, though, the harder the man's grip became until Kay could feel bruises forming where the man gripped her. She finally gave up trying to escape when the barrel of the gun was being pressed so hard onto the back of her head that it was making her bleed.
As Kay accepted that she would die tonight, she thought of how much life she would be missing. She would never get to marry the love of her life, have a career, buy a house, raise a family, or get to sit on her porch when she's old and think about how wonderful her life was. Instead, all this was being ripped away from her by one stupid man with a gun.
Just as Kay heard the trigger being pulled, there was a bang. At first, Kay thought the man had killed her but quickly realized it was the door to the roof being slammed. Kay sighed in relief thinking the police were finally here, but as her captor whirled her around, her heart when right back down her throat.
"Oops. I didn't mean to slam you, door." The intruder said, before kissing the door.
The intruder was holding a beer bottle, which obviously wasn't his first with how wrecked he looked, and was staring at the other two people on the roof. His black hair was a tangled mess from him moving around too fast and his deep brown eyes were filled with amusement on what he had interrupted.
'This fool can't even stand up straight so no way is he going to be able to save me. He most likely didn't expect to watch someone die today when he decided to go out on the town.' Kay thought, staring back at the newcomer.
"Who are you?" Kay's captor asked, his grip tightening on his gun and Kay.
"The guy who's going to save this young lady or as my friends call me, Hendrix. What about you?" Hendrix asked, seeming to actually be curious.
"You won't be needing it as you're going to die soon." Kay's captor said, removing the gun from the back of Kay's head and pointing it at Hendrix.
"Well, I'm going to call you Bob." Hendrix said, taking a drink from his beer.
"Whatever, you're still going to die." The man said, pulling the trigger for the second time that night.
"Wait!" Hendrix yelled, free hand raised and eyes wide.
"What now?" The man asked, voice full of annoyance.
"Be polite and let me finish my beer before killing this gorgeous woman." Hendrix said, gulping down the rest of his beer.
Kay's jaw dropped as she watched this fool gulp down his beer. She felt her captor's arm drop as he took was shocked at Hendrix's request and following actions. Kay thought of trying to get the gun out of her captor's hands but didn't in fear that he would shoot Hendrix, as the gun was still pointed at him. She began tapping her foot in annoyance, having already accepting that she would die tonight. Once Hendrix finished his drink, wonder filled his eyes as his gaze fixed on Kay.
"Why would anyone want to kill the sun anyways?" Hendrix asked, eyes never leaving Kay's green ones.
"I'm not the sun, you drunken fool! Do yourself a favor and go back down to the bar and avoid watching someone die!" Kay exclaimed.
"I'm sorry, beautiful sun, but when I became a superhero, I agreed to save everyone." Hendrix said, striking a superhero pose to further prove that he was, indeed, a superhero.
"Much of a hero you are." Kay muttered under her breath.
"It's been a pleasure meeting you, Hendrix, but can I kill her now?" The other man asked, placing the gun back to Kay's head.
"Yeah, as soon as I throw my beer away." Hendrix said, throwing his beet bottle towards the man.
Pieces of glass rained down on Kay as the bottle hit the other man, making him stumble back while shock filled his face.
"Oh, oops! I didn't mean to do that!" Hendrix exclaimed, rushing over to the other man.
All the alcohol in him caused him to stumble and to avoid falling over, he threw his arm up which caused him to accidentally elbow the other man. The other man collapsed as his breathing slowed down, signifying that he passed out. Kay just stared at the two men with her jaw slack.
"Well, it looks like I saved the sun. You're welcome." Hendrix said, getting up.
"How did you do that? You're drunk!" Kay asked, staring with wide eyes at Hendrix.
"Well, to be honest, most of it was luck but I'm also what they call Potvaliant. Potvaliant means I'm only brave when I'm drunk." Hendrix said, heading towards the door that lead back to the bar.
"By the way, my name's Kay and not Sun." Kay said, watching as Hendrix made his way down the stairs.
"I would much rather keep calling you Sun." Hendrix said, disappearing down the stairs and out of sight.
Kay chuckled to herself as she turned to look at the other man. She grabbed his gun and threw it off the roof, watching as the failed attempt of killing her shattered on the pavement.
