Advertisment's Claws

"Yo Sammy! Get your lazy ass up! We got stuff to do!" I groaned into my pillow as my cousin's loud yell filtered into my tired ears. I raised my head slowly, looking at the time on my phone. 7:30 am..... damn. I sit up slowly, combing my fingers through my messy brown hair. I slowly pull myself up and out of bed, padding sleepily into the bathroom. I splash some cold water on my face and the life finally returns to my green eyes. I turn and head to my closet, quickly pulling on a green tank top and some cut off blue jeans. I grab a pair of socks and my black sneakers along with my phone, head phones, and sunglasses. I quickly pull my hair into a messy ponytail and head down stairs. My cousin, Jake, and my aunt, Linda, were already at the table eating. I roll my eyes and move past them, grabbing an apple and a water. I lean against the counter and watch them silently. My cousin smirks at me.
"Shouldn't you be getting busy?" He says with a mouthful of food.
"Yeah Samantha. You have a lot to do today. Better get started now." My aunt said, hardly looking up from her food. My blood heated with anger.
"What about Jake?" I questioned, though as soon as it left my mouth I knew better. Jake was her baby.
"Jake is busy. Why do you always have to ask him for help? Your a big girl, do it yourself." Linda snapped, her eyes narrowing.
"Whatever." I put my sunglasses on and headed out the door before they could say a word. I put my headphones in and put on Saving Me by NickelBack and began my jog into town. I grabbed the news paper and sat on the bench waiting for the post office to open. I began looking through the ads aimlessly went I came across one close to the bottom.

"Hey Sammy Gurl! What's up!" My best friend, Vanessa comes up to me.
"Vee! It's been ages!" I jumped up and pulled her into a hug causing her to laugh.
"Jeez you act like I died or something. Calm down Sam. What are you looking at?" She arches an eyebrow at me, her bright blue eyes alight with curiosity. She had her long black hair pulled up into a stylish bun.
"Just an ad looking for a roommate." I said sheepishly.
"Ah. The old advertisement has its claws in you again? You remember how well your roommate hunting went last time?" She questioned, tapping her foot slightly. I frowned, keeping the flood of memories at bay.
"I don't want to think about that. But it's worth a try. I hate Aunt Linda's. Jake is a spoiled ass." I sat back into the bench with a huff.
"Then go for it girly. But be careful." She cautioned before saying goodbye and heading off. I held the ad in my hand, looking out into the city. I dialed in the number and pressed call before I lost my nerve. The phone rang twice before there was a small click.
"Hello?" A husky voice came over the line and for some reason my heart beat a little bit faster then usual.
"Um hi. My name is Samantha and I was calling about the ad you placed in the paper? I was wondering if I could come by to talk to you about it?" My voice came out small and nervous and I inwardly groaned in embarrassment.
         "Oh yeah. My name is Mason. It's nice to meet you. We live on 27th west Bradbury street, the ClearWater apartments. Come on by in an hour?" He said cheerfully. I nodded then mentally face palmed myself as I realized he couldn't see me.
          "Great. See you there. Bye." I said then hung up the phone quickly without waiting for an answer. I wiped my hands on my shorts self consciously and did a little happy dance. If all goes right with this meeting I don't have to stay with my Aunt anymore. Thank god.....
           I sat the paper back down on the bench and began my walk towards the apartments, my heart beating fast in excitement as I got closer and closer to my future place...........
