The Lifeguard

The Job

It takes a lot to get a job and Sophie has always wanted one she is only 15 so she was going to start low then get Higher up in the system so her first jobs was being a Lifeguard at her community pool. Sophie loved her job she met tons of nice people and soon became friends with a lot of the towns swimmers.  Especially Joseph laney, Joseph is 9 and has autism. He was a sweet kid and is very smart he was in 4th grade and going into 5th.  Joseph came to the pool every wendsday and every time he was there Sophie and him would talk and hang out until he had to leave.  Weeks and months went by every wendsday they would swim and talk.   But one week Joseph didn't come Sophie brushed it off her shoulder thinking "he must have other plans I mean it's only one day!". But this occurred another week then another Sophie started to wonder. Then a month passed Joseph never showed up. Now Sophie was worried Joseph had not shown up for a month and she was becoming curious that night after work she went over to Joseph's house and knocked on the door the house was nice on the outside Was gourgous it had marble tables with elegant velvet chairs that summed it all up.  Joseph's dad answered the door he was tall and had pale green eyes with a long nose and small mouth he resembled Joseph greatly.  He also wore big black glasses tilted slightly he seemed very worried and troubled as if he did not know what to expect.  "Hi I'm Sophie." She spoke very lightly "I'm the community pool Lifeguard"...a moment went by then Joseph's dad spoke "oh oh! I know you, Joseph's friend! He talks about you all the time!"
"Oh really?! Anyways I was wondering if Joseph was here I miss him and our chats at the pool do you know where he is?"  "Yeah about that...we haven't seen Joseph since...last month..." "you..you mean he is gone!"  "The police are doing everything they can one day he left to the pool to see you and never came back! We don't know what happened or if he was taken" "I'm gonna go I guess.." walking away Sophie was sobbing wishing she could see Joseph there wishing she could be there for him but he wasn't there.  Where could he be? Sophie thought.  I have to help...I have to find him he is autistic who knows what will happen to him or what's happening to him.  I'm going to find out!
