Branches slashed at the boy's face, mud splattered up behind him as he sprinted through the Indian jungle. The boy could hear his persuer's light footsteps padding the ground as he reached the edge of the dank dreary jungle. He skidded to a halt just in time. His breathing was hard and the view he saw in front of him didnt calm him at all. the boy spun around just as the persuer stepped slowly out of the jungle, panting, with a nasty gleam in her eye and her long black hair whipping around her face and givnign her the look of a demon. The boy slowly reached in his pocket and took out a globe shaped glass object. The boy threw the glass object at the persuer right as the persuer lunged at him. The glass hit her face hard and she shouted in pain, scraping blindly at her face. But when the persuer got the courage to look up and open her blood covered eyelids, the boy was gone. She was inches away from the edge of a gloomy precipice that plummeted and faded into complete darkness. She caught herself just in time to avoid falling in but just as she thought she was safe the dirt beneath her feet crumbled and she was falling into the deep valley below. At the moment when she should have crashed into the ground she woke with a jolt. She was breathing hard and she looked frantically until she realized that she was still safe and sound in her bed and she had just woken up from a nightmare. She had been having nightmares frequently. More precisely she had been having this same nightmare for weeks but she always woke up much earlier than she had this time. She looked at the clock on her bedside table and realized that it was time for her to get ready for her first day at a new highschool. Whenever she told her parents about the nightmares she was having they used their little kid voices, that they had perfected with the arrival of her younger brother 2 months ago, and told her "sammy sweetie your probably just having nightmares cuz you are going to a new highschool so our poor widdle baby is just nervous" Despite her parents reassurances something about that dream felt too real to samantha.
