It was like any other ordinary day for Emily. She would walk down the halls of the high school. Sometimes gaining stares. Sometimes not. She would hear the occasional whistle from a boy in the background. But she would never interact with them. She hardly interacted with anybody, mostly keeping to herself.
People outside of the small town would have mistaken her for one of the popular girls, but she wasn't. She was actually unpopular. To herself, anyway. More than half of the school would want to be friends with her. But she never let anyone in.
Emily never really thought of herself as one to be good at talking to others. Especially not girls. Sometimes, she'll even catch one giving her a disgusted look.
But there was one person who had her interested. His name is Peter Stewart. The stereotypical "badass" most schools would have. He didn't obey to the rules. He wore whatever he felt like wearing, even if it advertised sex, drug use, or anything related. Teachers would cower at the mere thought of him. But they would never show it in fear he would do something to set them straight.
And Peter just so happened to be interested in her as well. To her knowledge, he didn't know she existed. But he knew she did. And he was willing to let her know he did. Through whatever it took to get her attention.
But, for now, he just had to sit in the back and wait for his opportunity to come. Unknown to them, that opportunity came sooner than later.
