"Ashley, Abraham, Sasha, and Daryl you know the plans, get to your places! Everyone! It looks like we're doing this today!" Rick yelled out.
This wasn't how this was suppose to go, but unfortunately the big rig fell into the quarry and now we had to go along with the plan that wasn't suppose to happen for another day. I quickly looked at my brother who was already in the car with Sasha who was in the driver seat. We just gave each other a quick nod as Sasha sped out of there quickly.
"Ashley get the flare guns, get on the back of that truck and get ready to hit it on my signal!" Rick yelled out. "They're headed for home. We don't have a choice!"
I hurried to the big truck with a wooden flat bed and climbed up. I had one gun pointing up in the air and one by my side. Each with two flares ready to go. Everyone else started scattering off to their points. Everything went from calm to chaos quick.
"Now, Ashley!" Rick yelled out again.
I shot one gun off twice then quickly grabbed my other gun and shot it off twice as well. I quickly jumped off the truck as Tobin drove one of the big rigs out to make room for the walkers to get out and to follow us.
"Run, Ashley!" Daryl yelled who had already started his bike. I quickly jumped off the flat bed and ran towards my bike. Rick ran off towards Morgan and Michonne. Tobin got out of the truck and ran another direction.
"You ready?" Daryl asked
"Yea I'm ready" I said.
"Ok remember, don't get too far ahead of them or we'll lose them but don't stay too close. You got this!" Daryl said looking confident. We then began riding away.
Rick then came over the radio. Daryl and I each had one attached to our shoulders close to our ear so we could hear over the bikes and walkers.
"You all have your assignments. You know where to rendezvous. Daryl and Ashley leads them out. Sasha and Abraham join them at the bottom of the hill. Glenn, you hit us when you take care of the walkers at the tractor place. That's the one thing we got to get ahead of. Everybody keep your heads. Just keep up."
Daryl and I then started our way down the road lined with cars and then began down the next road on our way to our check point.
Sasha then came over the radio "We're at red at the bottom of the hill"
Daryl radioed her back "All right. Here comes the parade."
I smiled at his weird sense of humor. Never thought I'd actually hear the word "parade" again. He looked over at me and gave me a wink. I probably was one of the few people who got his sense of humor. It was rare but he did have one every now and then.
A few moments later Rick came over the radio again.
"Glenn you there yet?"
"Almost. We'll have it handled before they get here. And we'll meet you at yellow." Glenn replied.
"Copy that." Rick said.
We came over a hill top and spotted Sasha and Abraham below it who then slowly pulled in front of us.
A few moments later Rick came over the radio.
"Glenn, you have to hurry. The noise could distract the herd right off the road. Talk to me."
"We're here." Glenn said.
We went about a mile down the road when Daryl gave me a nod. He was signaling me to radio Rick. We always had an unspoken relationship. We always kind of knew what the other one was saying.
"Rick, here we come. Point orange." I radioed as we made our way to the wall that we built along the road to guide them away from home.
Rick, Morgan, and Michonne then sent off numerous flares into the sky from behind the wall. Sending them towards the direction they wanted the walkers to go.
Daryl and I kept revving up our engines to get the walkers attention. Sasha and Abraham kept closely behind us. We went more at a slower pace just to make sure the walkers stayed close by and followed us.
A little while down the road I hear the car door open behind us and Sasha yelling out Abrahams name. I quickly looked behind us to see Abraham run out towards some walkers in the woods who were drifting away.
"Abraham!!!" I screamed "what the hell are you doing?"
"Sorry sis! They're getting distracted. Can't have that on my watch!"
Daryl was looking back at him as well but didn't seemed worried. Abraham ran towards a tree that seemed to of had something shiny floating in it. He quickly grabbed it and started yelling and bringing the walkers back to the herd.
"You freaking idiot!" I yelled out.
"Yea love you too Ash!" Abraham said loudly as he ran back towards the car.
"Come on!" He yelled at the walkers "this is my ride asshole." And hit a walker to the ground.
He finally got back into the car. I just shook my head and kept moving forward.
Rick came over the radio again
"Tobin they're breaking off"
"What do you want us to do?" Tobin replied.
"Fire your guns and draw them back." Rick said.
Tobins group then began firing their weapons.
"It's working!" Tobin radioed. "The gunfire is bringing them back on the road."
"You got them, Tobin." Rick said
"Copy that. What was that screaming?"
"That was Carter. He got bit right in the face. I stopped him. "
I took a deep breath and shook my head. I never liked the thought of losing someone, even someone as arrogant as Carter. Daryl and I both looked at each other. We had a talk about doing this, and just how possible it was to lose people today. He knew I hated talking about it, but I knew it was something that had to be discussed.
We continued going down the road, leading the parade, as Daryl would call it. We slowed down to get on the sides of the car. Daryl was on the right side of the car next to Abe while I was on the left side next to Sasha. We were doing good. We were leading them away from home....everything was set but then....it wasn't.
Out of no where a huge air horn was sounding off in the distance. I quickly looked over to Daryl in fear then at Sasha and Abe.
"What the hell is that!?" I yelled.
"Sounds like some kind of rig horn!" Daryl yelled back.
"That's coming from home!" I yelled again. My heart sank in my chest.
"What do we do guys!!" I began to panic. We couldn't just leave the herd. As far as I could tell they weren't distracted by the noise. Or at least I thought they weren't......
