"Brendan, I was just trying to hatch all of these eevee eggs.. the ace trainer caught me by surprise. I only had blaziken and.." May whispered horsely to me. I held her tighter to my chest as we flew on my latios to the nearest place May could rest.
May has been sick for a good week now, but she never knows when to call it quits. "May the Pokémon center is too far, my base is closer and you can rest while I make you soup." I said soothingly and she coughed violently into her shirt.
"I don't care I'm ... so-" and she fell limp into my arms.
"LATIOS HURRY." I yelled, as I clutched to may's weak body. Her breathing was raspy and light, she was too weak to breathe normally, and of course she refused to wear a jacket that covered her trademark outfit. My heart was sinking into my stomach looking at her pale face.
"May... hang in there okay? Don't scare me like this." I whispered in mock anger as tears welled in my cobalt grey eyes.
This is bad. Really bad, I thought to myself. We finally reached route 118 out of the vicious downpour on route 119, and we flew right into my secret base perched into a tree. Latios helped me lay May on my bed, and latios pulled at the bottom of her tank top and looked at me.
"What the hell, Latios?! I'm not trying to sleep with her right now, she's half-alive!" I scolded at my blue jet Pokémon. Latios' eyes flew open and he cried out and shook his head at me. His yellow eyes shone a pink-purple as he removed may's fanny pack using psychic, and sent out her latias in a hurried panic. They chattered away as I looked on confusedly, and that was when latias used reflect to shield May, as she went in to strip her of her soaking wet clothes. She gave me the wet clothes and gave me the "well, fix them" look. With that she disappeared behind the reflective wall of light, and tended to may. I could see the light of latias' heal pulse shine through the dimly lit room, as Latios took our wet clothes and went to wring them out with psychic.
"You guys are so smart, thank you..!" I called out to the Pokémon duo. It was chilly in the room now that Latios made my clothes float off my body and I shivered as all my muscles tensed up. They chirped in response while I turned on the stove and began the soup to warm us up a little.
"Ninetales, warm the room up please." I shivered as I released all my Pokémon.
"May is ill, and I'm freezing" I looked at my Pokémon glumly as ninetales became cloaked in flames, bringing warmth so quickly to the large room. "Thank you my furball" I smiled endearingly at ninetales as she rolled her eyes, and curled into a little ball of embers beside the wall that was Latias' reflect. You know, For being a champion, may lacked in common sense. Who runs in the rain with only one Pokémon to hatch 5 eggs?! May. But I can't forget this is the same May I've loved since my childhood. I love being in her company, and being there for her makes me happy. It warms my heart to see her smile and her strength, and the trust she has in me. I hope she thinks the same way I do, sooner or later.. I let my mind wander as I chopped a tomato and sitrius berry for the soup, along with chicken and carrots.
"It's my mom's soup may if you can hear me!" I yelled to her as latias peeped her face around the reflect, and cried out and she removed the reflect wall that was put up to hide may.
May rolled over in bed wrapped in what looked like a thin cotton robe smiling at me, red in her face.
"Thanks Brendan. So much." She said quietly as she laid back and relaxed on my bed. I put the lid onto the pot of soup to let it continue boiling and walked to where the most powerful trainer in Hoenn lay, tucked in under the covers of which resided in my secret base. It wasn't even awkward to us that I only donned a pair of gym shorts, it wasn't like she didn't ever see me without a shirt. We were comfortable with each other's being and company, and that's what I loved about her, and she deep inside must be what she loves about me. I took a seat right beside where she was laying on the queen sized bed.
"How are you feeling, smart one?" I said sarcastically, however I looked over to her with great concern plastering my features.
She turned over to look at me and said, "I'm just fine thanks to you, smartass. Truly, thank you so much, you're a sweetheart Brendan."
Her cheeks were pink and although I could have concluded it was just a fever, the look in her eyes said otherwise. I watched her eyes wander down to my chest and back up to my eyes with a genuine smile gracing her plump lips. Her sapphire orbs glowed brightly at me and I blushed as I turned and looked to see all our Pokémon out of their pokeballs and filling up the room.
As if on cue, they nodded their heads or winked at me and I blushed furiously. "May I-I'm gonna check the soup okay?" I said shakily as I nudged past our Pokémon that were cooing and whistling at me.
"Cut it out guys, you little butts" may tried to scold our Pokémon, and they all cried loudly as they rushed to her bedside and nuzzled into her affectionately and tried to play with her. "Guys!" She wailed in laugher, "STOP YOU TICKLE THE WORST FLAREON!" She laughed to her flareon whom yipped in happiness. "You too ninetales."

The soup was done, and I found 60 pokepuffs to feed our teams as I set the table for may and I. Latias helped her to the table as I filled her bowl for her and had Latios portion out pokepuffs. I filled my bowl before taking my seat across from her, handing her a spoon.
"This is better than your mom's Brendan, Damn." She said in shock as she sipped a spoonful.
"I'm the best you know that." I joked.
"I do know that." She looked at me coyly, and I blushed.
"Brendan.. I just can't keep holding it in forever you know?" She told me in a serious tone, and my heart sank to the floor. She's going to say she's in love with that Steven Stone, I thought to myself bitterly as I looked at her somberly.
"What May?" I asked in confusion.
She took a bite of her soup and stared at me for a good minute and I wanted to just jump out of this tree.
"I've honestly had a crush on you for years now. Since your dad gave me torchic. Since I've battled alongside you. Since you've saved me so many times without fail. You've lifted my spirits so high and there's no way I could ever live this life without you. I.. I love you. I really do. And you're a real sarcastic ass, but I wouldn't have you any other way, you're perfect. Look at yourself! You're not little 10 year old Brendan anymore, you're 17 years old and looking like 20 without that loose t-shirt of yours. You're irresistible." She said shakily as she looked at me with soft eyes and a small smile.
And I was blushing clear down to my shoulders and fighting back tears as I stood up, firmly pressing my hands into the table.
"Brendan, wait- I'm sorry I Just.." she looked up at me with shocked sullen eyes.
"Shush. Just shush." I said in overwhelming shock and excitement that it came out harsh, and I walked over to her chair and pulled her up out of it. I placed one of my hands under her delicate chin as she blushed while my other arm snaked around her thin waist above her tout hips.
"God, I've been waiting my whole life for this moment, May." I said softly against her lips and I leant down to kiss her lips as they met mine softly. Her hands cupped my cheeks as she kissed me with passion, and she broke away in a red blush to breathe.
"I don't care if I get sick, you're worth it." I smiled as I rubbed the back of my neck in embarrassment.
All that could be heard was the roar of our Pokémon at the start of a brand new journey, and my personal favorite of all.
Our journey of love.
