The beginning

"Hey babe!!!! Hurry up!! We are going to be late for our appointment," Michael yelled to his fiancé. He was shaking his head because of all the time he had known her; she had never ever been ready on time. Today was the day they were going to pick their cake then she was going to check how her dressmaking was going because she had decided to have a custom made dress rather than a ready-made gown; she wanted it to be perfectly made to her specifications.

"Here I am," she said smiling brightly at him. She looked absolutely amazing in her white sundress with pink and red floral patterns, face bare of any make-up other than her lip-gloss and some mascara. He loved it when she was like this, it showed her natural beauty and he couldn't resist leaning down to give her a kiss which she readily returned and before they knew what was happening, things got a little heated.

At the back of her mind, she remembered that they were supposed to be going somewhere and through the fog, she managed to push him away with one last peck.

"Come on babe, we have to go before we get any later," she said pushing him away from her so that she could straighten her dress and hair. It was moments like this she was thankful for skipping make because that would have taken longer to fix. She smiled at him through the hallway mirror as she reapplied her lip gloss on her now swollen lips.

He smiled at her tried to get little mike to back down until they were back home. He walked behind her placing his hands around her waist and locked their eyes on the mirror. "I love you" he said pecking her cheek. Her eyes glowed brighter as she smiled at him, "I love you too, so much."

After that they both walked out of the house smiling and headed for their appointment. In the car on their way, her phone rang and she smiled as she saw that it was her mom.

"Hey mom, how have you been?"

"I've been good baby, are you on your way?"

"Yes, we are our way to the cake tasting, Michael say hi to mom,"

He looked at her and smiled looking back at the road as she placed the phone on his ear.

"Hey mom, what's up?"

"No much, I'm just waiting for you guys to get here,"

"Okay, see you then."

After the call she hang up and smiled at him before leaning in to give him a kiss on the cheek, but being the cheeky guy he was he turned his head so that she could kiss him on the mouth instead and it was in that instant that everything went wrong. He didn't notice the light changing and just as she was pulling away from the kiss, she saw an oncoming car.

"MIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!" she yelled just as the car hit them, causing her head to hit her window because of her sitting position. The look on Michael's face was the last thing she saw before everything went black.

Today was the day of the funeral and the weather seemed to match the gloomy mood, like in some sappy movie, it wasn't raining but it was just dull and cloudy. It had been two weeks since that fateful day. They had held off the burial until she was discharged from the hospital which had happened two days ago. She hadn't suffered a lot of injuries; just a cut at the back of her head and a smaller one just above her left eye brow, a concussion and a sprained ankle but other than that, everything else was just bruising. Mike was the one who faced the full impact of the collision. He had several broken ribs and one of them had pierced his lung and that together with the head injury had been what took him from her. Three weeks before the wedding.

Right now she was seated on a wheelchair next to her parents and Michael's dad as the priest said the last prayer for him. She had no tears at all, she hadn't cried even when she had been told that her fiancé was dead, instead everything inside her had gone numb. Even right now all she felt was empty, she felt nothing at all. She could remember that day clearly.

She had just finished speaking to the doctor about her injuries and everything else when her parents and Michael's dad walked in and smiled at her but she could see something was wrong from the sad gleam in their eyes.

"Hey, how is Mike?" she asked immediately with a dreadful feeling in her stomach, something was wrong, really wrong

"Umm darling," her mom started, the dreadful feeling in her stomach grew as her heart rate increased. "The doctors tried everything they could ,love but the injuries took their toll on him. He didn't make it, love"

"so what you are trying to say is that he is dead?" she asked already knowing the answer but hoping for something else, only to see Daniel, mike's dad, nod with watery eyes before walking out of the room. At his nod  it felt as if everything inside her froze, she felt numb. Her mother looked at her worried; she had expected her daughter to break down crying but what she saw in front of her was worrying. The light in her girls eyes dimmed and her face seemed to pale. She watched as her girl lied back on her bed and closed her eyes and still no tears. She turned and looked at her husband who hugged her close as she broke down; he led her out of the room.

She was woken up from her revere when her mom stood next to her, it was time to bid the last good bye to the love of her life, she felt her heart rate increase, that was the first reaction she had had to anything since her mom told her of her fiancé's death. Her mom pushed her towards the grave as the priest concluded his prayers and threw the first grains of sand and that is when it all happened. She felt as if something inside her snapped and her heart rate increased, her breath came in pants and then it all broke loose, she heard an ear piercing scream and it took her a while before she realized that it was coming from her and continued screaming. She tried to stop herself but it didn't work, she could hear someone talking to her but it sounded so far away and muffled. Her heart beat was going crazy and it felt as if someone was choking her and she couldn't breathe and because of this she started panicking and that only made everything worse and before she knew what was happening everything went black.

*

Her mother panicked as she felt her girl go limp in her arms, her breathing was still erratic and she could feel her daughter's heart beating wildly. She felt some one pull her away and before she could complain she saw it was her husband Owen, Daniel was carrying her girl towards the car in a hurry. They needed top rush her to the hospital fast because her breathing didn't seem to go back to normal. She was having a serious break down and they needed to do something before matters got out of hand.
