A streak of pain shot up my spine, dropping me to the ground in a pale white world. "Please end this, end it all. I can't stand this pain anymore." I say to the sky. All of a sudden, I see a bright light, a truly radiant light like a pearl in a sea of darkness. I'm somehow attracted to it, so I walk closer. It envelopes me in a tight embrace, the radiance overwhelming me.

And then darkness.

I wake up from my peculiar fantasy, seeing the light from my window come in. "Wow so beautiful" I think to myself. It was just like from the dream. I can even hear the birds singing their songs to me.

I pause for a second.

I can hear the birds.

My mom rushes into my room to find me sobbing and screaming. "Elizabeth?" She says cautiously. I sob even harder. I have never cried so much in my whole life.

But these are tears of joy.

I have been deaf since I was five years old.
