Trees

The four of us drove down the  empty road. We were the only ones out in who knows where. The trees seemed to be folding in onto us. From my perspective at least, but I have a past with that. The leaves were falling right infront of me. I didn't want to go on this trip, but I had no choice. My parents had made me go because they thought I needed a break from all that was going on back at home. They knew it was for the best and even though I didn't want to go I knew that too.
"Ellie, are you okay back there? You look a little pale." said Vera, as she adjusted the drivers mirror.
"Yeah I'm fine... I just dozed off a little." I said with hesitation
"Alright if you say so. We are going to be there soon and I can't wait to make some campfire food!" chimed in Sasha.
"We know you've said that like ten times in the last hour. " claimed Ally.

These were my closest friends, and they couldn't get much closer. We just got out of high school and were getting ready for college. The problem was that we were all going to different ones. The closest ones would've been me and Vera. But that would still be 7 hours away from each other. As a solution we decided to go venture Sasha's old family cottage.  It was out of my comfort zone but I still agreed to this idea.

Hours past and the sky grew darker. "When the heck are we going to get there! It's been 6 hours! I thought this was going to take 3 hours" screamed Ally.
"I have no clue that's how long I remember it being." said Sasha.
"The GPS is acting up. Do you see anything familiar?" Vera said calmly. "I can't see anything. It's pitch black out there."
"Fine. I'll just pull over into that opening in the trees and lock the car. We will sleep in here tonight, I guess. And then we will just keep driving in the morning."
"What?!" Ally said with fear in her voice. "What if some creep comes to murder us!"
"Okay. First of all the chances of that happening are one in a million."  Vera claimed
"Also its perfectly safe. So don't worry and get sleeping."
"Just so you guys know," I finally said
"This will be really fun. So... Just enjoy it while we have it. We are all leaving in December anyways and this might be one of the last big things we do together so lets make it memorable"
"Yeah what Ellie said" Sasha said. "So go to bed and get a fresh new start in the morning. This will be an experience to remember" Vera then pulled the truck over and we all went to sleep. Well everyone but me.

I sat there looking out at the stars. Thinking about my new life in California. It was really far from Pennsylvania. And I had never been anywhere further then Canada so I was scared. And for the next few hours I sat there collecting my thoughts under the stars.
